If we were asked to summarize the AI in Dermatology Summit 2026 in one sentence:
The perfect mix of technical AI-development and high-end scientific research 🚀
Three summit-takeaways that made us reflect:
1️⃣ AI is everywhere, and the focus is on skin cancer.
Melanoma and skin cancer detection dominated many discussions. AI in inflammatory skin diseases still holds a lot of untapped potential.
2️⃣ Sensitivity and specificity remain the key balancing act.
Detecting as many melanomas as possible while reducing false positives, so that fewer lesions are biopsied or removed unnecessarily, was a recurring topic. Validated AI tools are what make that balance trustworthy.
3️⃣ Dermatology is one of the most versatile fields for digital transformation.
AI-driven skin clinimetry means faster data, faster results and faster drug development - requiring higher standards in data protection. This is what Scarletred®Vision is built for.
A big thank you to the Department of Dermatology of Medizinische Universität Wien for hosting!
