1.
Omega-3s.
Omega-3 fats support brain development, nervous system function and overall health.
2.
Choose mostly whole foods.
Build meals around foods that are close to their natural form. They’re often less processed and can provide a wide range of nutrients. Use fats that suit your family, such as olive oil, avocado, coconut oil, ghee or tallow.
3.
Add veggies to meals.
Vegetables provide fibre and variety to support gut health and regular bowel movements. They also help toddlers get familiar with real food as part of everyday life.
4.
Make informed milk choices.
Cow’s milk isn’t the only way toddlers can get nutrients like calcium. Foods such as tahini can contribute too, and fortified alternatives may be another option. Choose what works for your child’s diet and needs.
