A diagnosis tells you what someone lives with.

It doesn't tell you...

Who makes them laugh.

What they care about.

What they're capable of.

Or where they want to be in five years.

At EmpwrU, we believe great support starts by getting to know the whole person.

Their interests.

Their strengths.

Real independence isn't built in one big moment.

It's built through hundreds of everyday moments that most people take for granted.

Ordering lunch.
Starting a conversation.
Managing money.
Planning a trip.
Making decisions.
Problem solving when things don't go to plan.

These are the skills that create confidence, and confidence creates greater independence.

At EmpwrU, community access isn't simply about getting out of the house.

It's about using everyday experiences as opportunities to learn, practise and grow.

Too often, community access becomes exactly that... just going somewhere.

A trip to the café.
A walk through the shops.
An afternoon at the movies.

They're all great activities.

But the real question is...

What was the purpose?

At EmpwrU, every support session starts with a goal.

Maybe it's building confidence ordering independently.
Learning to manage money.
Developing communication.
Practising social interaction.
Increasing independence.
Building routines.

The activity is simply the environment.

The growth is the outcome.

Because meaningful support isn't measured by how busy someone looked...

It's measured by how much closer they moved towards living the life they want.

That's what purpose-driven support looks like.

Is there anything better than a wood-fired pizza?

Our participants had a great opportunity to try out their pizza-making skills this week with our very own pizza oven at EmpwrU House!!!

Each person got to create their own pizza which was then cooked by our chef and then came the best bit.....eating it! 🤤

Our April Holiday program kicked off today with Bowling and a trip to the new Adelaide Aquatic Centre! All our participants had a blast and our support workers did a fabulous job đź‘Ź

This week we are heading to the movies, mini golf and finishing off the week with a fun activity day at our amazing EmpwrU House.

Our program is booked out for these holidays but send us a DM if you want to receive an email about future holiday programs!
