Sky's the Limit Disability Services Sky's the Limit is a client-focused organisation that supports people living with a disability.

Sky’s the Limit Disability Services has been established in response to local community demand for quality disability support services. It is focused on managing unique, individually tailored supports to improve the health and wellbeing of South Australians living with a disability. Tim, our General Manager, has around 30 years’ experience in, and extensive knowledge of, the disability and community sectors, working across various disability sporting and recreation groups. He has also worked extensively in the employment of people living with a disability and is focused on the issues which most affect daily life. Working in the disability sector has enabled Tim to develop a deep understanding of the NDIS. This includes helping people to describe their goals, understand the supports available to them, and learn how to develop an NDIS plan that meets their needs. Tim's life experience means he has particular expertise in assistive technology, mobility, life skills, blind and low vision sport and recreation, and coming to terms with vision loss. Tim understands the key issues in the Australian disability sector that, when addressed, can remove barriers to people living with a disability achieving their goals. We offer the following services:
• Support with cleaning, gardening, and home maintenance
• Assistance with managing and attending appointments and going shopping
• Help with personal organisation and administration
• Support with community participation such as going for a walk, attending events or meeting new people
• Assistance with sport and recreation activities
• Help with organising holidays and travel
• Assistance with plan reviews and documentation

Our Vision:
A world in which all people living with a disability are leading healthy, active and connected lives. Our Mission:
To work in partnership with individuals living with a disability and support them to lead a healthy and active life and achieve their personal health, wellbeing and community engagement goals. Our Values guide who we are and what we stand for in every interaction. They are:
• Client-focused and committed to providing choice and control
• Determined in our advocacy
• Honest in our conduct and communication
• Accountable for our work
• Respectful in all our relationships
• Passionate about our vision
• Proud of our community’s diversity

We recently gathered for a farewell lunch to celebrate Ivana and thank her for six years with Sky’s The Limit Disability Services.

Ivana has brought care, kindness and thoughtful attention to the individual needs of our participants. Even in challenging situations, she has responded with grace, maturity and compassion.

We will miss her cheerfulness and the warmth she brought to our team. It means a great deal to know that she has enjoyed working with us as much as we have enjoyed working with her.

She asked us to pass on this message:

"My time with Sky's The Limit Disability Services has unfortunately come to an end for personal reasons. However, I have had the absolute pleasure over the last 6 years to work for a company whose focus is to help empower their clients with individual needs to achieve their potential and be active members within the community. I would like to Thank the Management Team for the opportunity."

Thank you, Ivana, for everything. We wish you a happy and fulfilling retirement!

Last weekend, Tim played at the Blackwood RSL and entertained around 50 people with 2 hours of good music. Many of his family and friends were there to enjoy the afternoon along with some of Sky's the Limit's clients and employees. It was a lovely afternoon; we enjoyed singing along and some of us even danced!

Mary and Lauren went to see Death of a Salesman on Saturday night. They both studied the play at school and talked about other plays they'd studied - Summer of the Seventeenth Doll, One Day of the Year and others. There were so many plays they had in common!
Getting out of the carpark was a nightmare due to the number of cars but it was a nice opportunity to sit and chat.
It was a fun night out!

Happy 80th birthday, Peter! 🎉

Peter has been a Sky’s the Limit support worker since the very beginning. Over the past seven years, he has worked closely with many of the people we support, helping in all sorts of ways.

Peter is one of the kindest and most gentle people we know. We’re so grateful to have him on our team. He really is a treasure.

Please join us in wishing Peter a wonderful 80th birthday! đź’™

(We will work on getting a better photo of you in time for your 81st birthday!)

National Week of Deaf People (NWDP)

The National Week of Deaf People is an annual celebration honouring Deaf individuals and the Australian Deaf community, highlighting their culture, language (especially Auslan), heritage and achievements.

Tomorrow is International Day of Sign Languages, recognising the importance of sign languages and the rights of Deaf people around the world.

In Australia, Auslan is much more than a way to communicate. It is a language in its own right, with its own grammar and structure, and for many Deaf people it is an important part of culture, community and identity.

We’re very lucky at STLDS to have Sandra as part of our team. Sandra is Deaf and through knowing and working with her, we’ve learnt a lot more about some of the things hearing people simply don't think about!

We also want to acknowledge the wonderful work of Auslan interpreters. We’ve seen firsthand the skill involved in interpreting and the important role interpreters play in bringing Deaf and hearing people together. A special shout-out to our mate Glenn and the many other interpreters doing this work every day.

We found some great free resources on the Western Australian Association of the Deaf website that you might find helpful if you want to learn some Auslan: https://www.waad.org.au/free-auslan-posters

Have you had an experience with STLDS that you'd like to share?

We'd really appreciate your feedback. If you'd like to leave us a Google review, it helps other people looking for support to learn a little more about us and what we do.

There's absolutely no obligation, but if you'd like to leave a review, you can do so here: https://g.page/r/CePceA2j4riLEBM/review

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to give us feedback. We really do read it and appreciate it.

Tomorrow is R U OK? Day.
It’s a good reminder to check in with the people around us, but it’s also worth remembering that people don’t only need to be asked once a year.
Ask on any ordinary day.
You don’t need to have the right words or know how to fix things. Sometimes just asking and taking the time to listen is enough.

Important changes to NDIS funding

From 1 October 2026, changes to the NDIS will begin to affect funding for Social, Civic and Community Participation and some Capacity Building supports.

These changes will be introduced gradually as participants receive a new or reassessed plan. From 1 February 2027, they will also apply when plans are renewed. This means the changes won't happen to everyone at once.

For many STLDS clients, Social and Community Participation is an important part of their NDIS funding. We know that changes to this funding may affect how some people use their supports and their ability to participate in activities and connect with their community.

The NDIA itself acknowledges that reducing community and civic participation funding may make it harder for participants to attend medical appointments, shop and access services and make and maintain friendships.

We encourage you to start thinking about the supports that are most important in your everyday life. This might include things such as shopping and appointments, essential transport and assistance with everyday activities.

If your funding changes, you may need to make some choices about how and when you use your support hours. Planning ahead will help you get the most from the funding available to you.

There is no need to make changes to your current supports simply because 1 October is approaching. Your existing plan continues until the NDIA makes changes through the relevant planning process.

If you receive a new or changed plan and you're unsure what it means for your STLDS supports, please talk to us. We can help you understand your available funding and plan how you would like to use your supports.

You can read more about the changes to the NDIS here: https://www.ndis.gov.au/news/11650-new-ndis-laws-pass

🎬 Movie night for a great cause!

We’d love to see some of our STLDS community at the Capri Theatre on Thursday 24 September for a special screening of Heart of the Beast starring Brad Pitt. It's a survival story about a Special Forces officer and his retired combat dog, Odin, stranded together in the Alaskan wilderness.

Come along from 5.30pm for a drink, grab something from the café and have a go at the raffle and W**e Wall before the movie starts at 6.30pm.

The night is raising funds for Blind Sports SA, helping create more opportunities for people who are blind or vision impaired to get involved in sport.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Ethan! 🎉

Yesterday was Ethan’s birthday, so we wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate him and say how lucky we are to have him as part of the STLDS team.

Ethan is everything we want in a support worker. He’s kind and caring, flexible and always willing to help. He communicates well, follows guidelines, keeps great notes and, most importantly, genuinely cares about the people he supports.

Ethan quietly gets on with the job and does it well. He's reliable, thoughtful and always ready to lend a hand.

Happy birthday, Ethan! We hope you had a great day. Thanks for everything you bring to STLDS. 🎂🥳
