This week is National Carers Week, and we’d like to celebrate all of the remarkable people who show up every day to support their loved ones 💛

More than one in nine Australians are carers, providing integral supports to friends, family members and loved ones. This year’s theme is Care for a Carer: Making Carers Visible, encouraging the support of those around you that are carers and acknowledging their efforts in supporting our community.

Meet Courtney! 👋

Courtney is a caring and reliable support worker with a Cert IV in Youth Work. Her background is in school and youth support, working with students aged 6 to 15 where she provided one-to-one support for students with intellectual and learning challenges and as a mentor to a young person with social anxiety. Courtney also has experience in early childcare and NDIS cleaning support.

In her free time, she enjoys crafting with her young daughter, reading, music and the gym. Courtney also loves animals, and is keen to start a tropical fish tank 🐠

Our Studio Supports program has kicked off to a great start so far! 🥁

We’ve had a bunch of participants join us in the studio over the last few months, all focusing on different personal music goals. From jamming out with studio instruments, karaoke fun and studio recording and mixing, it’s been a great experience to be able to support each person with building their skills and independence within the studio environment.

We took a stroll around the riverbank to see who could take the best photos of the surrounds, which was a great opportunity to get into nature and get some movement in on a beautiful, sunny day!

Each week we’ve come together and worked on building this participants skills on the guitar, working on chords and following along to some of his favourite songs while in the studio at Northern Sound System.

It’s not a small feat to sing along while you play, and sound so good! Well done mate, keen to see you continue to grow into the rockstar you are 😎

How good does a fresh spring clean feel! 🧼🍃

With the change of the season we recently had a day where we listened to some tunes and got a good spring clean in, getting into all of the nooks and crannies to get the kitchen sparkling! Its always great to be in a clean space once you’re done, where you can admire all of the hard work 💪
