Monday Good News Story

Last week, we were celebrating Brett, one of our fantastic Ancora National participants, who has been absolutely loving the new cooking class we have introduced him to.

While Brett and the Ancora team continue working towards employment opportunities, he has been eager to build his skills and confidence in the kitchen. Brett loves getting out into the community, trying new things, and challenging himself to learn along the way.

One of the things we admire most about Brett is his positive outlook on life. As Brett says: "Its better to try and learn than not try at all"

That attitude shines through in everything he does. Whether its learning a new recipe, meeting new people, or taking on new experiences, Brett approaches every opportunity with enthusiasm and an open mind.

We are incredibly proud of the determination and positivity Brett brings to his journey. His willingness to step outside his comfort zone is inspiring, and its the kind of mindset we hope all our participants can embrace.Well done,

Brett! We cant wait to see what you achieve next.

5 Essential Skills You Can Use Every Day at Work

At Ancora National, we believe that meaningful employment is about more than just having a job. It is about building confidence, developing independence, and learning valuable skills that can be used every day in the workplace and beyond.

Whether you are starting your first job, exploring new employment opportunities, or building your capacity through employment supports, these five essential skills can help create success in any workplace:

Communication

Strong communication helps people express their ideas, ask questions, build relationships, and work effectively with others. Good communication can increase confidence, improve teamwork, and help individuals feel more connected in the workplace.

Time Management

Being able to manage your time allows you to stay organised, complete tasks efficiently, and meet workplace expectations. Learning how to prioritise responsibilities and maintain routines can contribute to long-term employment success.

Teamwork

Every workplace relies on people working together towards common goals. Teamwork helps build trust, promotes inclusion, and encourages individuals to support one another while developing positive workplace relationships.

Problem Solving

Challenges can arise in any job. Having the ability to think through situations, explore solutions, and adapt to change is an important skill that helps build resilience and independence both at work and in everyday life.

Responsibility

Taking responsibility means being reliable, accountable, and willing to learn from experience. Employers value workers who take pride in their role, follow through on commitments, and contribute positively to their workplace.

At Ancora National, we work alongside participants to develop these practical workplace skills through tailored employment supports, capacity-building opportunities, and real-world experiences. We believe that every individual has unique strengths and potential, and with the right support, those strengths can grow into meaningful employment outcomes.

Employment is not just about earning an income. It is about building confidence, creating connections, developing independence, and achieving personal goals.

Together, we are helping individuals build the skills they need today for the opportunities of tomorrow.

Wednesday Wisdom with Ancora National

MYTH: You need to have everything figured out before starting your career journey.
FACT: Your career journey is about discovering what works for YOU. It's okay to take your time, explore new opportunities, learn along the way, and ask for support when you need it.

At Ancora National, we know that every participant's journey is unique. That's why we focus on supporting individuals at a pace that suits them, ensuring their goals are meaningful, achievable, and never rushed.

We believe success isn't about having all the answers from the start. It's about taking small steps, building confidence, developing skills, and reaching goals in a way that works best for each person.

Remember, your journey doesn't have to look like anyone else's. Progress takes time, and every step forward is worth celebrating.

Goals should be achieved, not rushed.

Your future is a journey, not a race.

Tuesday Good News Story: Andreas Building Confidence in the Community

Andreas has been making great progress towards his NDIS goals with Ancora National by continuing to visit new places and community locations that he may not have explored before. Through these experiences, Andreas has been working on overcoming uncomfortable situations, building confidence, and strengthening his social and communication skills.

Over the past two weeks, Andreas successfully visited Munno Para Shopping Centre, where he explored several stores and engaged in positive interactions with staff members. These opportunities allowed him to practise communicating with others in a retail environment while becoming more comfortable in busy community settings.

Every new interaction is helping Andreas build the confidence and skills needed for greater independence and future employment opportunities. His willingness to step outside of his comfort zone and embrace new experiences has been outstanding.

We are honestly very proud of you, Andreas. Your effort, determination, and growth have been fantastic to see. Well done on all your hard work, and keep up the amazing progress

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!
At Ancora National, we know that the best outcomes happen when people work together. Whether it's participants, support workers, families, or allied health professionals, teamwork plays a vital role in helping people achieve their goals and live their best lives.

Here are three simple ways to be a great team player:

Communicate
Share your ideas, ask questions, and keep others informed.

Listen
Value the ideas, opinions, and experiences of those around you.

Support Others
Offer a helping hand, celebrate successes, and work towards shared goals together.

In the NDIS, collaboration is key. When everyone communicates openly, listens respectfully, and supports one another, participants receive more person centred and effective support, helping them achieve greater independence and wellbeing.

Together, we can create stronger connections, better outcomes, and more opportunities for everyone.
