NDIS Commission Portal update — 12 October 2026

The new NDIS Commission Portal launches today, changing how registered providers complete certain regulatory activities.

What providers should do:
• Check access to the new Commission Portal and staff roles.
• Review outstanding regulatory tasks.
• Follow official Commission instructions on which tasks belong in the new portal and which continue in the existing portal.
• Use official support resources if you encounter access issues.

Important: Provider obligations and the NDIS Practice Standards have not changed because of this portal transition.

Learn more through the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Important NDIS Commission portal update

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is preparing to launch its new NDIS Commission Portal on 12 October 2026.

As part of the transition, planned portal outages will occur this weekend.

Registered Providers Portal & Applications Portal:
8 pm Friday 9 October → 10 pm Sunday 11 October

Other NDIS Commission portals:
7 am → 10 am Sunday 11 October

The Commission recommends completing relevant portal tasks before the outage periods where possible.

Importantly, provider obligations and the NDIS Practice Standards are not changing because of the portal transition — it is the system used to complete certain regulatory work that is changing.

NDIS Update: Supported Independent Living guidance has changed

The NDIS has updated its Supported Independent Living (SIL) operational guideline from 1 October 2026.

The updated guidance provides more clarity around:
• What is — and isn’t — considered SIL
• How SIL decisions are made
• 24-hour individual support criteria
• Mandatory registration requirements for SIL providers

For participants and families considering supported living arrangements, understanding how SIL works is an important part of making informed decisions about supports and living options.

Adelaide Disability Care provides Supported Independent Living services across Adelaide.

Sometimes the biggest progress comes from the smallest everyday wins. 💙💚

For one person, independence might mean making breakfast on their own.

For someone else, it could be learning a new routine, trying something new, getting out into the community or building confidence with everyday tasks.

There is no single definition of progress.

At Adelaide Disability Care, we believe support should help people work towards the things that matter to them — at their own pace and in their own way.

Choice & Control Matters

Every NDIS participant should be involved in decisions about their own life, supports, goals and providers.

Choice and control can mean:
• choosing providers that suit your needs
• setting goals that reflect what matters to you
• speaking up when something is not working
• being involved in decisions about your supports
• having services adapt around you, not the other way around

At Adelaide Disability Care, we believe good support starts with listening.

If you or someone you support is exploring disability support options in Adelaide, our team can help explain the services available and discuss what may suit your individual needs.

NDIS UPDATE | 2027–28 pricing consultation now open

The NDIA has opened consultation for the 2027–28 Annual Pricing Review, and participants, providers and the broader disability community are invited to have their say.

The review will consider whether current pricing arrangements are supporting access to quality services and whether changes are needed for the 2027–28 financial year.

The consultation will look closely at several commonly used supports, including:
• disability support worker-related supports
• Supported Independent Living (SIL)
• therapy
• social and community participation
• support coordination

Participants are being asked about quality, access, provider preferences and value for money. Providers are being asked about workforce costs, compliance, overheads and service delivery models.

Consultation closes 1 November 2026.

NDIS UPDATE | Support budget changes from 1 October 2026

The NDIA has announced that some NDIS support budgets will be reduced over the coming 12 months.

The changes affect two support categories:
• Social, Economic and Community Participation
• Improved Daily Living Skills

The changes will apply as plans are created or reassessed from 1 October 2026, and as plans are renewed from 1 February 2027.

Importantly, this does not mean every part of an NDIS plan is being reduced. The NDIA says a number of essential and critical supports will not be affected, including supports relating to employment, disability-related health, high-intensity supports, intensive and complex behaviour supports, and many essential day-to-day supports.

Every participant's circumstances are different, so the impact may vary from plan to plan.
