A closer look at the technology changing shoulder surgery! 🦾🤖

The Mako robotic system is bringing a whole new level of precision to reverse shoulder replacements, helping surgeons plan and execute procedures with incredible accuracy.

Dr Dan recently became the first orthopaedic surgeon in South Australia to use this technology for a shoulder replacement, and we’re excited to share a closer look at how it works!

A HUGE milestone for shoulder surgery in South Australia! 🦾👏🏼

Three weeks ago, our very own Dr Dan became the first orthopaedic surgeon in SA to perform a shoulder replacement using the Mako robotic system!

An exciting step forward for orthopaedics, with the potential to revolutionise reverse shoulder replacement surgery through greater precision and advanced technology.

Even better, we're pleased to share that the patient is recovering really well! 💙

We're incredibly proud of this achievement and excited for what the future holds!

For almost ten years, every day began with pain for this 76-year-old, until he became the first South Australian to have a shoulder replacement performed with robot assistance.

Thanks to technology, it has let his surgeon complete a virtual “practice run” before the operation, using his scans to plot the best path for the robotic arm.

A fantastic evening of good food, great company and a little learning! 🥂

Last night, Dr Dan joined fellow doctors for a CPD dinner at Ting Ting, where he spoke about shoulder replacements and rotator cuff repairs. We also heard from Dr Kartika, who shared insights into returning to work following injury.

TECH UPDATE-
We are seeing your shoulder with improved 4K technology. Dr Dan and his assistant are excited to use the Arthrex Panoscope & Nanoscope. Essentially 2 cameras are used within the shoulder. A better view and clarity improving surgical precision!💪🏽
