The 50% reduction for social, economic and community participation and the 10% for improved daily living skills were made official yesterday, 01/10/2026.

Team DSC have posted this very helpful breakdown and link to their article about the Support Determinations that began yesterday 01/10/2026.

As always, it is best to stay as informed as possible so the changes when they do happen are met with understanding rather than surprise.

đź””It's Monthly Statement Time!đź””

On the 1st of each month, we send out the monthly statement which recaps how you spent your plan funds of the month just ended. This recap helps understand your services and their costs and helps prevent over-spending.

If you have any questions about the contents, please reach out to our friendly team or reach out to your Support Coordinator or nominated representative with us, who would have received one too.

The recent changes to Supported Independent Living (SIL) supports under the NDIA come into effect tomorrow, 1 October 2026.

SIL providers who are not currently registered with the NDIA must have commenced their registration process by the end of today (30/09/26).

From 1 October 2026, SIL providers who are not registered and have not commenced the registration process will no longer be able to deliver or claim SIL supports from NDIS participant plans.

If you are a participant receiving SIL Supports in your NDIS plan, check with your provider to ensure they've done their duty and are OK to continue.

🚨The SIL registration deadline is 30 September.

If you’re an unregistered provider and want to continue providing Supported Independent Living (SIL) under the NDIS, apply for registration now.

Once you’ve applied, you can continue providing SIL while your application is being processed.

If you do not intend to register, notify the NDIS Commission as soon as possible. You must stop providing SIL and support affected participants to transition to an appropriately registered provider.

There are a number of changes beginning to come into effect, so staying informed can help you understand what to expect and make sure you’re prepared for any changes that may affect you.

From 1 October 2026, some NDIS support budgets will be changed.

These changes will affect budgets for:
🔹 social, economic and community participation supports
🔹 improved daily living skills supports.

These changes will be introduced over 12 months. They will be applied as plans are created or reassessed from 1 October 2026 or renewed from 1 February 2027.

Participants will be notified ahead of their plan reassessment or renewal. Participants can continue using their current plan and supports until their plan is reassessed or renewed. If you have high support needs, you might be able to ask us to vary your plan.

The NDIS frequently run online webinars addressing and informing the public about recent legislation changes or general NDIS updates.

Next week on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th of September, the NDIA are hosting two webinars to provide detailed information about changes introduced through the NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026.

These webinars are free to attend, but do require signing up. They are a great opportunity to hear it direct from the NDIS what the changes are and what they mean. Keeping yourself informed is the best way to understand what these changes could mean for you and your NDIS journey.

Topics may include:
✔️Changes to plan reassessments
✔️Support determinations
✔️How decisions may be made under the updated legislation
✔️What participants need to know when using their plan
✔️Where to access information, guidance and support.
