Our Wellbeing team in Mornington Island came together with community last week to farewell our beautiful friend, KC🤍
The team proudly wore our Mornington Island shirts, designed by KC herself. On the day they carried an even deeper meaning, reminding everyone of her culture, her love, her pride for her community, and the legacy she leaves behind.
KC was a respected Elder, mentor and leader whose guidance, strength and presence meant so much to many of us. The team were fortunate to share many laughs, conversations and memories with her, and those are the things they will hold close.
It was a hard day saying goodbye, but a special one being able to stand together, wearing something she created and honouring her in our own way.
KC called her design Kalangkurr, the Southern Cross. A symbol that helps guide us and reminds us that no matter where we are, we can always find our way home.
Our love and deepest condolences are with KC’s family, loved ones and the Mornington Island community as they farewell a very special woman.
May Kalangkurr continue to guide us home, and may KC’s legacy live on through her family, her community and all those whose lives she touched.
From all of us at NWRH, Kunaatha, our beautiful friend. 🤍🕊️
