Twenty-two days of exposure to spearmint EO improved several memory measures, strengthened the brain’s antioxidant defenses, and reduced oxidative damage after drug-induced memory problems. Subjects exposed to the lower concentration used produced the most consistent memory benefits, while the higher concentration reduced exploration in some tests, suggesting that more was not always better. These findings support further research for cognitive impairment, but benefits in people have yet to be established.
