BRIGHTEN UP DAY!

An initiative by Ballarat Mental Health Collective!

To be fair, most of my clothing is pretty bright and cheery, but I may have found the brightest cardi & scarf to wear, and then new hair do for a sunny day!

There is still a chance to get something bright on, enjoy the sunshine ๐ŸŒž (thank you Ballarat!) And put a smile on someone's face!

Also please note, my tulips are also joining in the brightness today too ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

A wonderful evening hosted by Mental Health Professionals' Network spent learning from part of the Babies Above team on the wonderful offerings they have for the Ballarat community who have and who are navigating the world of Miscarriage, TFMR, stillbirth, pregnancy loss and neonatal death.

7 amazing women, 4 who came and spent time today to educate perinatal professionals in Ballarat on all they offer.

A huge thanks to Allanah, Maddy, Chrissie & Tara for taking the time today to share your stories of loss, your babies and your passion for supporting families throught pregnancy, baby and infant loss and all the complexity and grief it brings to life.

I thought it was time to give an update of my lovely new office, particularly now I have been in it for over a month!

Its a little different to my last one, and thankfully a LOT less blue in colour!

With beautiful North facing sunny light, and natural colours, its smaller but still feels generous.

I have my lovely Catriona on my walls, and currently working behind the scenes with Catriona as well as Emily Van Der Molen and MIA SULLY to create some works specifically for my space - cant wait to be able to see how they all turn out over the next few months and get them hung on the walls (although thats realistically a 2027 outcome!)

I am absolutely loving being in the new space, and hope all the lovely people I work with are too, I know change is not always easy!

Father's Day comes with a wide range of emotions

Joy for those who are a father, with their children in theirs arms.

Grief for those who are fathers, with their children in their hearts.

Anxiety for those fathers, who are navigating pregnancy after loss.

Worry for those who are navigating infertility, and unsure if they will become a dad.

Sadness for those who had hoped to have children, but living a life without them.

Whichever your story, may today have been gentle and with the love you needed.

How wonderful are flowers?

Those that signify the change in the season - thank goodness for spring!

Those grown in your own garden, and providing scent through your home.

Those given in kindness, as a thank-you for your time.

Here is to the change in season, the pause to notice the colours and signs of new life, the scent and the mindfulness which can come with the time to pause.

This Sunday 30th August 2026 on Bereaved Father's Day, we pause, acknowledge, and send love to all the Fathers who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy, baby or child.

Whether in the past few weeks, months, years or even decades ago, the impact of the loss of a child stays with fathers, etched in their hearts, and forever on their minds.

While today is a day where we openly speak of the impact of pregnancy, baby, infant and child loss on fathers, we know this is an experience they carry with them every day.

๐ŸŒˆ National Rainbow Baby Day - August 22nd ๐ŸŒˆ

The rainbow baby, not a term everyone is comfortable with or wishes to use, representing the baby born after loss.

The wished for addition to the family after a time of grief and sorrow.

Not the replacement, rather than next beautiful addition to the family.

Irrespective of the term you use, may this little wonder bring some joy into your life.
