Several states are recording a later-than-usual flu spike this year, with Victoria reporting a 25% rise in acute respiratory infections over the past six weeks. For most people, the flu passes on its own. But for those with existing lung conditions, it can trigger COPD or asthma flare-ups, worsen chronic bronchitis, or lead to secondary pneumonia.
If you manage a respiratory or sleep-breathing condition, flu season is a good time to speak to your doctor.
