Fix the NDIS—but don’t leave country Victorians behind.

Lifely has joined 12 other regional, not-for-profit disability providers in releasing a joint statement calling for changes that reflect life in country communities.

Our message is straightforward: cutting someone’s funding does not make their disability or their need for support disappear. And referring them to a service that doesn’t exist locally is no solution.

Together, we’re calling on federal, Victorian and local governments to work with our communities to get this right.

Your experiences can help shape better healthcare.
That’s why we’re representing our region in Rural Compass. Led by the University of New England, the project brings together experienced disability researchers, PhD students, disability support organisations and people with lived experience of intellectual disability.

Are you aged 40 or over, with an intellectual disability, and living in a regional or rural area? Share your experiences through the 15–20 minute online survey. A family member or support person can help.

If you were affected by the recent Mildura power outage and need assistance with your reimbursement or damaged appliance claims, insurance advice, or are interested in finding out about the solar and energy upgrade grants - help is available.

Representatives from a range of support agencies will be on hand to provide information and guidance including CitiPower and Powercor Australia, Mallee Family Care's Community Legal Team, The Salvation Army Australia, DEECA Loddon Mallee and more.

Our organisations grew from country communities coming together to meet local needs. That community commitment still drives us today.

Do you support someone aged 40 or over with an intellectual disability?
If they live in regional or rural Victoria, please let them know about Rural Compass.

This 15–20 minute online survey asks about their health and access to healthcare. You can help by reading the questions aloud and recording their answers.

For someone with a severe or profound disability, a close family member, friend or carer can complete the survey on their behalf.

Lifely represents regional Victoria in this project, led by the University of New England. We’re aiming for 1,000 responses from regional and rural adults aged 40+ with intellectual disabilities.
