A new worker should already know how you like things done.

At My Goal, every part of your week is written down in your words: where you go, how you get there, what you like to order, who you say hello to, and what helps when it gets too much. Every worker reads it before their shift. If something changes, it is updated within 1 business day. Every 3 months you walk through it together.

From 1 October 2026, every SIL provider must be registered with the NDIS Commission or have an application in. My Goal has been a registered SIL provider in the Hunter for 10 years, audited against the NDIS Practice Standards across multiple homes in multiple LGAs in the Hunter. If you are unsure where your provider stands, ask them.

Annaka's current 'My Goal' at My Goal is looking for the right housemate by the end of 2026.

Annaka lives in her Supported Independent Living home in Port Stephens, delivered by My Goal since 2017, alongside her loving and very involved parents. This is her goal, in her words:

“My current goal is to find a new housemate to share my home and our support. I’m looking for a woman in her 20s or 30s who would like to share my home and share support with one other person."

Annaka loves a busy week: volunteering, art and day programs, and getting out in the community.

Lost keys. Lockouts. Someone waiting on the doorstep for a spare.

For a long time that was just part of running SIL homes. We decided it should not be.

Our SIL homes now run on smart locks. Fingerprint, PIN, fob or app.

What that changes:
• A new starter is set up in minutes, not after a trip to the office for a key.
• A contractor gets a temporary code that expires when the job is done.
• If a fob goes missing, nothing gets re-keyed. Access is updated centrally in seconds.
• Every entry is logged. That supports safeguarding, incident review and peace of mind for families.

None of this makes support work easy. It is skilled work and always will be. What it does is clear the friction out of the way so our team can get on with it.

That is where I want My Goal's investment to go. Into the tools and the people who do the work.
