Your thyroid is constantly responding to what’s happening within your body and what you’re exposed to in your environment.
There are a number of chemicals that have been studied for their potential endocrine-disrupting effects, meaning they interfere with the way our hormones are produced, transported or regulated.
And while we can’t eliminate every exposure (nor do I think we need to become fearful of everything around us), there are some simple ways we can reduce our overall load.
Think choosing glass or stainless steel for food storage, washing fresh produce, reducing heavily fragranced personal and cleaning products, avoiding heating food in plastic, and replacing non-stick cookware with stainless steel.
You don’t need to throw everything in your house away overnight.
I always prefer the approach of reducing exposure where it’s realistic and focusing on the things you can control, without making your health another source of stress or breaking the bank.
