Marinated kebabs are significantly underrated - especially if you're prepping a meal for a crowd! They taste delicious, they make the budget go a little further and they're stress-free option.

Here's how we make ours:

INGREDIENTS:

1kg rump or sirloin steak cut into 3cm cubes
3 medium zucchini
1 large red onion
2 capsicums (any colour)
olive oil for brushing
8 metal or soaked wooden skewers

MARINADE
2 garlic cloves
2 tablespoons tamari
2 tablespoons balsamic
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
1 teaspoon raw honey
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh rosemary

METHOD:

Marinate the beef. Whisk the marinade ingredients together, then set aside 2 tablespoons in a separate covered container in the fridge for basting. Toss the beef in the remaining marinade, cover and refrigerate for 3–24 hours.

Prepare the vegetables. Cut the zucchini into rounds approximately 1.5 cm thick, halving any particularly large rounds. Cut the capsicum into 3 cm pieces and the red onion into wedges, keeping a couple of layers together.

Assemble the skewers. Thread the beef, zucchini, red onion and capsicum onto the skewers, alternating as you go and leaving a little space between pieces for even cooking. Discard the marinade used for the raw beef and brush the skewers lightly with olive oil.

Cook. Preheat a barbecue grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the skewers for approximately 8–10 minutes, turning regularly, until the beef reaches your preferred doneness and the vegetables are lightly charred. Brush with the clean reserved marinade during the first few turns, allowing it to cook on the grill.

Rest and serve. Transfer to a platter and rest for 3–5 minutes, then scatter with fresh parsley.

Optional lemon yoghurt: Mix ½ cup plain Greek yoghurt with 1 tablespoon lemon juice, a little finely grated lemon zest and a pinch of salt.

Yes, you really can taste stress on the plate - it's not just something they used to say on Masterchef 😅

Calm handing contributes to better animal welfare and there's science that supports that it affects the flavour of the meat as well.

Cattle store energy in their muscles as glycogen. After processing, that glycogen helps the meat reach the right level of acidity, which influences its colour, texture and eating quality. If cattle experience significant stress beforehand, those energy stores can fall, increasing the risk of beef that is unusually dark and less consistent to cook.

We love working alongside Eliott Ag and Australian Organic Meats Group, because they both prioritise this and our customers comment on it every day.

You don’t have to feel stressed for stress to be affecting your body.

Maybe you’re waking up tired even after a full night’s sleep. Your patience is wearing thin. Your brain feels foggy. Your digestion is all over the place. You’re getting headaches, clenching your jaw or noticing that your hormones just don’t feel quite right.

Sometimes the stressor itself isn’t something we can simply remove.

The kids still need you. Work still needs doing. The bills keep arriving. Life can be genuinely busy, demanding and, at times, completely outside of our control.

So, what can we do to better support our body through it?

Join our registered and degree qualified naturopath Elisse Brown for The Stress Effect, a practical workshop exploring what chronic stress is really doing inside the body and what you can actually do about it.

Elisse will unpack the stress response, nervous system, cortisol and HPA axis, along with the ways ongoing stress can influence sleep, energy, mood, hormones, thyroid function, blood sugar, metabolism, digestion, inflammation and immune health.

This workshop might be for you if you’re feeling overwhelmed or irritable, struggling to switch off, waking exhausted, experiencing brain fog or simply noticing that your body doesn’t seem to be coping with life quite as well as it used to.

Most importantly, we want you to leave with a better understanding of why you’re feeling the way you are and practical tools you can use to support your body when life is stressful.

Tickets are just $10 and include ALL THREE:

Did you know that you can purchase large portions of a whole beast from ?

This is such an incredible way to save money on your organic grassfed beef, organic grassfed lamb and free-range pork.

By purchasing this way, you get the benefit of eating nose to tail AND the average price per kg is much lower than buying cuts individually in-store.

Some of our customers have formed buying groups while others save and buy 12 months' worth of meat in one hit.

Keen to know more? Ask us in-store, give us a bell or send through an email [email protected].

Online ordering is right around the corner, too!

Everyone is wanting glassy skin right now and we absolutely get it. Buut many of the products that are being promoted out there are packed full of endocrine disruptors which can affect our wellbeing (including our skin quality) in years to come. We prefer to opt for clean brands like Antipodes which are beautiful to use, effective and support our health in the long run.

The best part? We've discounted the Antipodes Skincare range to be more competitive in the market so you can now pick it up for less than RRP next time you're in doing your shop.

Here's our non-toxic and holistic starter park which supports strong, glowy skin from the inside out.

1. Love your liver

Your skin is a report card for how well your liver and gut is functioning. Incorporate lots of cruciferous foods, bitter greens, beetroot, high quality proteins, water with concentrated minerals + lots of fibre to support it.

2. Mineral Sunscreen

Protecting your skin barrier from damage is key and we like to do this the non toxic way. lays nicely under makeup or looks fresh for the day for a bare skin look

3. Good Quality Cleanser

To get the most out of your products, you need to use a good quality exfoliant which lightly removes debris without damaging your skin barrier. We love the Purity Glass Skin Facial Polish for exactly this

4. Vitamin C Serum

Adding a vitamin c serum in the mornings leaves your skin feeling brighter and can address pigmentation issues. The vitamin c serum is a gel which gives you some added glow

5. Gel Moisturiser

This week has given us a taste of summer and it reminded us that it's definitely time to switch over to a gel moisturiser so it feels hydrating without being heavy in the heat. with hyalauric acid is going to give you that glassy finish without the weight of a lot of other products out there

6. Support Collagen Production

As we age, we produce less collagen and once again - our skin is a report card and gives us insight into what's happening internally. Add vitamin c, bone broths and collagen peptides to your supp stack to keep your joints and skin feeling hydrated.

Zinc is one of those nutrients we only need in relatively small amounts, but when we're not getting or absorbing enough, the effects can show up all over the body.

Think changes in taste or smell, wounds that take forever to heal, frequent infections, hair loss, skin changes, poor appetite and, in children, changes to normal growth and development.

When considering nutrients and potential deficiencies, we need to think about quantity, quality and how well our body is absorbing. People with gastrointestinal conditions, chronic diarrhoea, higher requirements during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or diets with limited dietary variety may be more vulnerable to inadequate zinc status. Vegetarian and vegan diets can absolutely contain zinc too, but phytates naturally found in foods like grains and legumes can reduce how much zinc is absorbed.

If you're wondering whether zinc could be part of the picture for you, pop into TMP Organics and have a chat with our naturopath Elisse or book a consult using our website. She can help you work out whether it's something worth investigating further and whether a full consultation would be helpful.
