Every shopping trolley has one wonky wheel. And somehow it's always the one you pick. πŸ›’πŸ˜…

You push it anyway. It drifts left. You correct. It drifts left again. By aisle five you've made peace with it and given it a name.

Here's the learning (hidden in the joke): life rarely hands us the smooth trolley.

Things drift, wobble and squeak. But you still get to the checkout, and you do it with a little extra steering and a lot of character. πŸ’›

Permission slip: you can laugh at the wobble instead of fighting it.

πŸ’Ύ Save this for the next time your day drifts left.

πŸ“© Send it to the friend who always gets the wonky trolley.

The strategy we have all been running:
β€œBe harder on yourself. That is what keeps you sharp.” πŸ˜‚

We have been doing this for years.
How is it going. πŸ˜‚

We would never speak to a friend the way we speak to ourselves.
Our internal monologue did not get that memo.

Swipe: Learning 7 of 10 has the rewrite. 🌱
πŸ’¬ What does your inner critic say most often? Drop it in the comments - none of us need to keep taking that feedback. πŸ‘‡πŸ€

Made a hot cup of coffee at 7am. Found it at 3pm. Cold. Drank it anyway. πŸ΅πŸ˜…"

Nobody warns you that adulthood is mostly boiling the kettle, getting interrupted, and then microwaving the same cup three times.

You're allowed to enjoy your tea lukewarm, your day imperfect and your plans a little chaotic.
The cup still counts. πŸ˜…

πŸ’Ύ Save this for the next time your hot drink goes cold.

πŸ“© Send it to the friend who's microwaved their coffee three times today.

πŸ’¬ How many times have you reheated your cuppa today? Be honest. πŸ‘‡

Look at what everyone else is doing. Feel worse about our own life. Repeat. πŸ˜‚

Many of us have been doing this for YEARS.
How is it going. πŸ˜‚

Nobody posts their 8am on a random Wednesday.
That is where everyone actually lives.

Swipe: Learning 6 of 10 has the plot twist. 🌱

β€œBe harder on yourself. That’s what keeps you sharp.” πŸ˜‚

We’ve been doing this for YEARS.
And then the science looked at it and said: yeah, that is not it.

Here’s the plot twist nobody told us:

People who were kind to themselves after failing studied 51% longer than people who were hard on themselves.

Not a little longer. 51% longer.

The harsh inner voice wasn’t motivating anyone. It was just making everyone tired.

Self-compassion isn’t letting yourself off the hook. It’s keeping yourself on the field. 🌱

The inner critic says: feel bad until you do better.
Self-compassion says: that was hard - what do I need, let’s go again.

One of those keeps you going.
One sends you to the couch for the rest of the day. πŸ˜‚

Being kind to yourself is not the reward for getting everything right.
It is how you GROW. 🌱

Learning 5 of 10: The Art of Being Kind to Yourself.
Every Monday and Friday at KindAspire. 🀍

πŸ” The fifth hidden word is potted on the side, somewhere in this carousel. πŸ˜‚

You're allowed to be unfinished and still be worth knowing. 🌿

Many of us may be quietly waiting to feel "sorted" before we show up fully.
Before we speak up. Before we start. Before we let anyone get close.

Here's the gentler truth: nobody is finished. You're a work in progress, and that's what makes you someone worth knowing.

πŸ’Ύ Save this for the day you feel behind on becoming who you thought you'd be.

πŸ“© Send it to someone who's being too hard on themselves.

πŸ’¬ What's something you're still working on, and proud of anyway? πŸ‘‡

Our brain during a win: "Noted. Moving on." πŸ˜‚

Our brain during one small thing that did not go perfectly: "Let's unpack this. From the beginning. At 2am."
Same brain. Very different filing system.

And then someone gives us a genuine compliment and we spend approximately 0.4 seconds accepting it before immediately thinking of three things we could have done better. The compliment has left the building.
The self-critique has moved in and started unpacking. πŸ§³πŸ˜‚

Sound familiar? That is not a personality flaw. That is negativity bias - one of the most well-confirmed findings in psychology. Our ancestors who remembered threats survived longer. So our brains became extremely good at filing the difficult stuff and letting the good stuff quietly exit.

The brain stores negatives in bold ink and positives in pencil.

The good news we cannot rewire this overnight, but we can update the filing system. When something good happens, pause on it.

Ten seconds longer than feels necessary. That is genuinely enough for it to register. Not toxic positivity. Just better admin. πŸ˜‚πŸŒ±

Before Monday starts, name one thing that went okay this week. πŸŒ…

Not amazing. Not perfect. Just okay. The email you finally sent. The walk you took.
The day you got through when it was heavy.

Our brains are brilliant at replaying what went wrong, and quietly skip what went right. A Sunday pause is one small way to even that out.

πŸ’Ύ Save this for the next time Sunday evening feels heavy.

You don't need a crisis to deserve support.🌊
Somewhere along the way, a lot of us learned to wait until we were completely falling apart before asking for help. Before we rested.
Before we said "I'm not okay today."

Here's your permission slip: you can reach out when things are just heavy.
When you're tired in a way sleep doesn't fix. When you simply want someone to listen.

It's World Mental Health Day today, and this month's theme in Australia is Together We Thrive.
Thriving doesn't start at rock bottom. It starts with one small, kind step.

πŸ’Ύ Save this for the day you talk yourself out of asking.

πŸ“© Send it to someone who always says "I'm fine."

If you or someone you know needs support, Lifeline Australia is on 13 11 14 (24/7), and in New Zealand you can call or text 1737.

The voice in your head isn't you. It's just the loudest voice in the room. 🌊

It replays the awkward comment from Tuesday. It doubts the plan before you've started. It talks to you in a way you'd never talk to a friend, and because it sounds like you, it feels true.

Here's the shift: you're the one hearing the voice. A thought is a passing event in your mind, not a fact about who you are.
That small gap between you and the thought is where you get to choose.

Try this today. When the voice gets loud, add four words to the front: "I'm noticing the thought that..." So "I'm not good enough" becomes "I'm noticing the thought that I'm not good enough."

Feel how it loosens its grip.

πŸ’Ύ Save this for the next time your inner critic takes over the meeting.

If your inner voice feels relentlessly harsh, a GP or counsellor can help. You don't have to carry it alone.

πŸ’¬ What's one thing your inner voice said today that you could simply notice? πŸ‘‡
