Our ASC team represented by Nikki and Crystal had a wonderful morning at the Options Day Disability Expo in Bundaberg last September.

It was great to see so many people come together to share ideas, connect and find out what's on offer locally.

R U OK?Day is today, 10 September, but the reminder behind it matters every day of the year. Nine in ten people who've bee n asked "are you OK?" say it left them feeling genuinely cared for. A conversation doesn't need to be perfect. It just needs to be real.

If someone's crossed your mind lately, start there. Ask, listen, encourage them to seek support if they need it, and check back in.

πŸ“‹ Service agreements: recommended, not required

A service agreement sets out what you and your provider have agreed to - but it's only compulsory if you have Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).

For everything else, it's optional... though we'd still call it best practice. Even a simple written agreement protects you and your provider if things change down the track. 🀝

πŸ”” NDIS reminder: your relationship with your provider matters just as much as the support itself.

You're allowed to take your time. You're allowed to ask questions, and you're allowed to change your mind.

A good provider will make space for you to feel safe, heard, and comfortable, not rushed.

A few things worth remembering:
β†’ You don't have to pick the first provider you meet
β†’ Tell them how you like to communicate: in person, phone, online, or email
β†’ Bring someone you trust along if that helps you feel more comfortable
β†’ If something doesn't feel right, you can speak up or find a new provider

Building trust takes time - and that's okay.

Say hello to π“π«πžπ―π¨π«, one of our fantastic Support Coordinators based in our Hervey Bay office. Trevor works closely with participants to help them navigate their NDIS plans and connect with the right supports to reach their goals.

And speaking of great work, Trevor has been nominated and awarded as our Employee of the Month after receiving wonderful feedback from a participant he supported through their move into Supported Independent Living (SIL) 🏑✨ A huge milestone, and a huge credit to Trevor's dedication!
