Glow is growing in more ways than one. šŸ¤°šŸ¼šŸ¤

Alick and I are so thrilled to share we’re expecting our first bub, a baby girl due in April 2027!

I’m already picturing life ahead, working with her snuggled on my chest. I’m so grateful to run Glow from home, and to have the warmest clients who’ll welcome her right in.

Sessions continue as normal for now, and I’ll keep you posted on bookings as April gets closer. ā˜ŗļø

It’s giveaway time! ✨

I have put together a little treat for one lucky person, and I am so excited to share it. The winner will receive a full colonic session, followed by a sweat in the infrared sauna, and a dry body brush to take home and keep the good feeling going.

Want in? Like this post, follow the page, and tag a friend who would be all over this! Tag as many friends as you like, because every single one counts as another entry.

I’ll be drawing the winner on Wednesday 7 October and announcing it right here. Good luck, lovelies! šŸ¤

** Open to anyone who can make it to the studio in Cairns.

It's easy to overlook the things that seem too simple to matter. šŸƒ

We tend to look for complicated answers to digestive discomfort, when the foundations are usually much simpler.

Drinking enough water through the day.
Eating foods that suit your body.
Moving each day in a way that feels good.
Resting well, so your body can do its quiet work.
Spending time with bare feet on grass or sand, which helps the nervous system unwind and gives your gut the calm it needs to do its job.

None of these are dramatic on their own. Together, though, they build the kind of foundation your digestion can rely on.

Which of these comes easiest to you, and which one tends to get forgotten?

It’s the everyday habits that carry your digestion the furthest. If you’d like support with yours, bookings are through the link in bio. šŸ¤

Glow is a small studio by design.

There’s one treatment room, one practitioner and one client at a time, which means when you’re here, the whole space is yours. That includes your own private ensuite, just a few steps from the table, ready for whenever you need it and for as long as you like.

I’ve always wanted this to feel less like a clinic and more like being welcomed into a space that was made with you in mind. Nothing is rushed, nothing is shared, and every detail has been thought about with your comfort at the centre.

The digestive tract has its own nervous system, separate from the brain, made up of over five hundred million neurons lining the walls of the gut. It is sometimes called the enteric nervous system, and it can trigger contractions, adjust blood flow and coordinate the movement of food through the intestines entirely on its own, without a single instruction from the brain.

What connects the two is the vagus nerve, a long pathway that runs from the brainstem down through the chest and into the abdomen. It carries far more signals up from the gut to the brain than it does down. Around ninety percent of that communication travels in that direction, which is part of why digestive state has such a strong influence on mood, focus and how calm or unsettled we feel, rather than the other way around.

This is one reason digestion cannot really be separated from the rest of how we function. The gut is not just processing food. It is constantly sending information that shapes how the whole body responds.

Supporting that system, through what we eat and how well waste actually moves through it, is not a small or isolated act of care. It is foundational.

A flower does not bloom because it is pushed. It blooms because the soil, the light and the season are in place, and then it is a matter of time.

Bodies work in a similar way. We tend to want results on our own schedule, yet the body keeps its own rhythm, one that has always followed the laws of nature. Cells turn over, tissues renew and the body clears what it has finished with, all without needing to be told.

Trusting that design does not mean doing nothing. It means choosing the things that support it and then letting it work at its own pace. 🪻

Where in your life could you swap pushing for patience?

Did you know your gut is home to trillions of bacteria that do far more than digest your food. They produce certain vitamins, train your immune system, and stay in constant conversation with your brain through what scientists call the gut brain axis. The foods you eat shape which bacteria thrive.

Leafy greens, oats, lentils and berries all contain prebiotic fibres that feed beneficial bacteria, which then produce short chain fatty acids that support the gut lining and reduce inflammation. Fermented foods like sauerkraut, kefir and miso introduce live cultures that can help shift the balance further, though the effect depends on the ecosystem already present in each person’s gut.

Even something as simple as chewing thoroughly changes how efficiently the rest of digestion unfolds.

Small choices, repeated often, shape the terrain inside you.

Hi, I’m Steph! šŸ‘‹šŸ¼ Self-proclaimed Cairns’ most passionate colon hydrotherapist (someone’s got to be).

Quick thing I want to touch on: detox gets a bit of a bad reputation in the health world, and I get why. Our bodies are detoxing for us constantly, the liver, kidneys, lungs, skin and bowel are all doing this work every day without any input from us. That’s just the body functioning as it should.

Glow exists for the moments when those channels need some extra support. If you’ve been dealing with constipation, bloating, gas, skin issues, brain fog, anxiety, hormonal changes, weight gain, or general discomfort in your body, these can all be signs of a system that’s a little backed up and struggling to keep pace.

There’s nothing wrong with using tools to support that process. Helping our organs and channels of elimination function better means we can detox more effectively and feel lighter, clearer and more energetic, without carrying around waste the body hasn’t been able to fully clear yet.

This is the work Glow was built for. It’s about feeling better, and genuinely good self-care.

Have you experienced colonics for yourself yet? If you’re curious, send me a message, I’m always happy to chat through what it involves.

Sunlight through the trees outside the colon hydrotherapy room, it’s a view I never get tired of. 😌

So much of what happens in this space is about ritual, showing up for yourself again and again. Even when life is busy. Especially then. That consistency is its own quiet form of self-respect. I love that Glow gets to be part of that, the ambiance, the small details, the homely feel, all of it built to support people in doing that work.

Grateful for this view, this space, and for everyone committed to tending to themselves well. It’s important work, and you’re worth it. šŸ’š

Dry skin brushing is one of the simplest rituals you can add to your routine, and the benefits go far beyond smoother skin.

Using a natural bristle brush in gentle strokes toward the heart helps stimulate the lymphatic system, encouraging the movement of lymph fluid and supporting your body’s natural detoxification process. Since the lymphatic system doesn’t have its own pump like the circulatory system does, movement and stimulation like this are what keep it flowing well.

Regular dry brushing can also help exfoliate dead skin cells, unclog pores, and improve circulation, leaving your skin feeling softer and looking more radiant over time. It takes just a few minutes before your shower, but the ripple effect reaches your whole system.

Book a Foundation Series package as a first time client this month and receive a free dry skin brush to start your ritual at home. ✨
