Happy Pronouns Day
👉 Today is International Pronouns Day! 👈
Everybody has pronouns - not just transgender, nonbinary, or intersex people. But some people are affected more than others when we get their pronouns wrong - and also boosted a lot when we get them right.
This is why getting pronouns right is so important, as it affects people's mental health and wellbeing - positively or negatively.
We can all help to create positive outcomes by learning more about pronouns, and by putting this into practice.
"International Pronouns Day seeks to make respecting, sharing, and educating about personal pronouns commonplace. Referring to people by the pronouns they determine for themselves is basic to human dignity. Being referred to by the wrong pronouns particularly affects transgender and gender nonconforming people. Together, we can transform society to celebrate people’s multiple, intersecting identities."
