Have you tried a trigger point ball? 🌿

A trigger point ball (also called a massage ball or myofascial release ball) is one of the simplest and most effective tools you can add to your recovery routine. Think of it as a targeted, portable massage - and it only costs $12 (we also keep these in stock).

What is a trigger point?A trigger point is a tight, sensitive spot in a muscle that can cause local pain or refer pain elsewhere in the body. They often develop from overuse, poor posture, or sport and exercise.

How to use a trigger point ball:
- Glutes and hips - sit on the ball on a chair or the floor, and slowly roll around until you find a tender spot. Hold gentle pressure for 20-30 seconds, breathe, and let it release. Brilliant for lower back pain and hip tightness.
- Upper back and shoulders - place the ball between your upper back and a wall. Lean in gently and move slowly to find tight spots. Great for tension from sport, desk work, or carrying.
- Feet - stand and roll the ball slowly under the arch of your foot. Particularly helpful for plantar fasciitis and foot fatigue.
- Calves - sit on the floor, place the ball under your calf, and slowly roll from ankle to knee. Brilliant for runners.

The key is to move slowly, breathe through any tenderness, and never work directly on a joint or the spine itself.

A trigger point ball works beautifully alongside regular chiropractic care - releasing muscle tension so your adjustments hold better and your body moves more freely 💙

Want to perform better in your sport? Start with your spine.

Most people think of chiropractic care as something you do when something hurts. But some of the world's top athletes use regular chiropractic care not to recover from injury - but to perform at their absolute best.

Here's why spinal health matters for performance:
- Your nervous system runs through your spine. When your spine is aligned and moving well, your brain and body communicate more efficiently - better reaction time, coordination, and muscle activation.
- Mobility equals performance. Restricted joints mean restricted movement. Better spinal mobility translates directly to better range of motion in sport and exercise.
- Compensation patterns slow you down. When one part of the body isn't moving as it should, other parts overwork to compensate. This costs energy, reduces efficiency, and increases injury risk.
- Recovery is faster. A well-functioning nervous system and musculoskeletal system means your body can repair and adapt more effectively between training sessions.

Spinal health is foundational.

The best sports injury is the one that never happens.

Whether you are a weekend warrior, a dedicated athlete, or just someone who loves staying active - injury prevention should be part of your routine, not an afterthought.

Here are some of the most effective things you can do to keep your body moving well:
- Warm up properly - dynamic movement before activity prepares your muscles and joints for what's coming. Static stretching is better saved for after.
- Cool down and stretch - give your body the chance to transition out of high demand. Five minutes makes a real difference.
- Listen to your body - pain is a signal, not a challenge. Pushing through it is one of the most common causes of serious injury.
- Strengthen the supporting muscles - strong glutes, core, and postural muscles protect your spine and joints during sport and exercise.
- Get your spine checked - misalignments in the spine and pelvis can alter your movement patterns and put uneven load on muscles and joints, making injury far more likely.

Dr. Kjersti works with active patients of all ages - from kids in winter sport to adults who love running, swimming, gym, and everything in between.

Regular chiropractic care is an effective thing you can add to your training plan 🌿

Breastfeeding is beautiful. It is also really hard on a woman's neck, shoulders, and upper back 😔

Most feeding positions involve looking down, rounding the shoulders forward, and staying in the same posture for extended periods - sometimes for hours a day. Over time this can lead to:
- Neck pain and stiffness
- Upper back and shoulder tension
- Headaches
- Wrist and forearm pain from supporting baby's weight
- Lower back discomfort from sitting in awkward positions for long periods

A few tips to help your body while feeding:
- Bring baby up to breast level using a feeding pillow rather than hunching down to baby
- Sit with your back supported and feet flat on the floor or on a footstool
- Try to keep your shoulders relaxed and away from your ears
-Get up and move gently between feeds whenever you caneeds
Get up and move gently between feeds whenever you can

And if your neck and upper back are already sore - Dr. Kjersti understands the unique demands of the breastfeeding body and provides gentle, specific care to help you feel more comfortable through this season 💙

You are doing an incredible job. Your body deserves support too. Book in via the link in our bio or call us on (02) 6652 7207 📞

If someone you love has just had a baby, here's something worth knowing - the most meaningful thing you can do is help her take care of herself 💙

New mothers are incredible. They are also exhausted, often in pain, running on empty, and putting everyone else first.

Here are some of the most helpful things you can do for a new mum:
- Bring food that’s nourishing and easy to eat with one hand
- Book her a chiropractic appointment - her pelvis, back, and neck will thank you
- Ask how she is feeling and if there is anything she is needing - not just how the baby is
- Do a load of washing or tidy the kitchen without being asked
- Remind her she is doing an amazing job

Postpartum chiropractic care with Dr. Kjersti is gentle, nurturing, and specifically tailored to where a new mother is in her recovery. It is one of the most practical and loving gifts you can give 🌿

Gentle stretches can help ease some of the most common postpartum discomforts - tight shoulders, an achy lower back, and more 🌿

Always check with your healthcare provider before starting any postpartum movement, and listen to your body throughout!

Gentle Stretches:
1. Chest openerSit or stand tall. Clasp your hands behind your back, gently squeeze your shoulder blades together, and lift your chest. Hold for 10-15 seconds. This helps counteract the rounded shoulders that come from feeding and carrying.

2. Seated cat-cowSit upright in a chair, hands on knees. Breathe in and arch your lower back gently (cow), then breathe out and round your spine (cat). Repeat 5-8 times, following your breath. Great for a stiff lower back.

3. Chin tucksGently draw your chin back (think: making a double chin). Hold for 3-5 seconds, repeat 10 times. Helps relieve neck tension from looking down at baby.

4. Hip flexor stretchStep one foot forward into a gentle lunge, keeping your back knee down if needed. Feel the stretch through the front of your back hip. Hold 20-30 seconds each side.

5. Shoulder rollsSimple, but effective. Roll your shoulders back slowly 10 times. Do this regularly throughout the day.

These are a starting point - for a personalised postpartum care plan, come and see Dr. Kjersti. She will assess where your body needs support and guide you through what is right for you specifically 💙

Growing and birthing a baby is one of the most extraordinary things a human body can do. But once baby arrives, the focus shifts almost entirely to the little one - and mum's body often gets pushed to the back.

The fourth trimester (after birth) - is real! Your body has just done something incredible, and it needs care, support, and time to recover. At Life Chiro and Wellness, Dr. Kjersti has a special interest in postnatal care and loves supporting women and newborns through this season.

After birth - whether vaginal or caesarean - the body goes through significant changes:
- The pelvis, sacrum, and surrounding ligaments need time and support to realign
- Hormonal changes (particularly relaxin) continue to affect joint stability for months
- The physical demands of newborn care - feeding, lifting, carrying, bending - begin immediately, often before the body has had a chance to recover
- Sleep deprivation affects muscle tension, posture, and the nervous system

Gentle chiropractic care in the postpartum period can help support your body's recovery, address pain and tension, and help you feel more like yourself again - so you can show up for your baby feeling strong and supported 🌿

You deserve care too. Book in via the link in our bio or call us on (02) 6652 7207 📞
