THIS!

Not because every packaged food is bad.

Because somewhere along the way, food became something companies engineered, fortified, flavored, branded and sold back to us as “healthy.”

And more of us are starting to want something simpler.

Food that still looks like food.

Beans, vegetables, fruit, whole grains, nuts, seeds, herbs, roots.

Meals made from ingredients instead of products built around a health claim.

We now have growing evidence linking diets high in ultra-processed foods with poorer health outcomes and faster biological aging.

So choosing more whole plant foods is not about being old-fashioned.

It is about being more intentional.

About deciding that convenience does not get to make every food choice for us.

About teaching our families that nourishment does not need a marketing campaign.

And about building a way of eating we still want to recognize 20 years from now.

If this is the direction you are moving too, you are not alone.

More from the Earth. Less from the factory.

That feels like progress.

Follow along for more practical, natural steps to slow biological aging and live a longer, fuller life.

A great reminder as to why we really do need to wash our fresh produce before eating it.
It also makes one question how much damage these pesticides do to our gut microbiome, and the rising levels of gut issues, allergies, eczema’s etc.
Food is Medicine!
Buy organic when you can, and wash everything well, because your microbiome and body will thank you for it!

When you know what you should be doing...

I should be eating this...

I should be moving...

I should be sleeping better...

I should feel calmer...
..but you're not doing it, you'll keep living at half capacity.

You'll tell yourself that you are lazy, you lack willpower, you never stick to things, or blame your hormones.

You'll become disconnected to yourself and your needs.

Which actually takes you further away from where you want to be.

You eat when you're stressed.
You push through when you're tired.
You ignore the little signals from your body.
You put yourself at the bottom of the list.
And promise yourself you'll get back to looking after yourself when things calm down.

Maybe that's why you haven't booked Nourish yet.

Not because you don't want to come.

Maybe because you're doing what you always do...

Putting yourself second.

And I say that with so much love, because I know how easy it is.

Nourish isn't about what you're doing wrong.

It's an afternoon to pause.

To understand more about what your body needs in midlife.

To explore the connection between what you eat, how you feel and how you live.

To reconnect with yourself.

So you feel better. Amazing, even.

And to leave with a few simple things you can actually take into your everyday life.

You probably don't need another plan.

What if you just need to start listening to yourself again?

And this afternoon will give you space to do that?

If you've been thinking about coming, take this as your little invitation.

Come and be nourished for a change.

We'd love to see you there.

A great reminder to us all! Somewhere along the way, go, go, go has been normalised in society and it really is up to us to step out of the hurry and mind consuming ‘busyness’ for our own health and lower those cortisol levels.

We have become remarkably good at staying activated.

We move from one demand to the next without ever fully coming down.

A difficult email leads into a meeting. The meeting leads into another task. Lunch happens quickly. The afternoon fills itself. Then the workday ends, but the mind keeps going.

By evening, the body may have spent eight, ten, or twelve hours preparing for what comes next.

And because this pattern is so common, it rarely feels unusual.

It feels productive. Responsible. Normal.

Then we finally reach the couch exhausted and call that rest.

But sitting still while scrolling through headlines, watching stimulating television, answering messages, or continuing to think about tomorrow is not necessarily the same thing as physiological recovery.

The body may have stopped moving while the nervous system remains very much awake.

That distinction matters.

The stress response is designed to be temporary. It mobilizes energy, sharpens attention, raises cardiovascular activity, and helps you respond to a challenge.

But when activation keeps returning without enough recovery between demands, the cumulative burden begins to affect multiple systems at once.

Researchers call this **allostatic load**, the wear and tear that develops when the body has to repeatedly adapt to stress over time.

Higher allostatic load has been associated with greater risks of disease and earlier death. In a systematic review and meta-analysis, people with higher allostatic load had a 22% greater risk of death from any cause and a 31% greater risk of cardiovascular death.

Chronic stress can also contribute to dysregulated inflammatory signaling, one of the pathways increasingly connected with cardiovascular disease, metabolic dysfunction, cognitive decline, and other conditions associated with aging.

This is where the world’s longest-living cultures offer a very different rhythm.

Blue Zone elders experience stress too.

They have families to care for, work to complete, financial concerns, grief, uncertainty, and all the ordinary difficulties that come with a long human life.

Their advantage is not a life without pressure.

It is that pressure is regularly interrupted.

Blue Zones researchers call this **downshifting**: daily rituals that help release some of the stress the body has accumulated before it becomes the permanent background state of the day.

In Okinawa, that may mean taking a few moments to remember ancestors.

In Ikaria, an afternoon nap.

In other long-lived communities, it may be prayer, time outdoors, conversation, visiting friends, or simply allowing part of the day to become quieter.

The rituals differ, but the pattern does not.

Stress rises. Then something intentionally brings it back down.

And that may be the part modern life has lost.

We tend to postpone recovery until everything is finished.

But everything is rarely finished.

So rest becomes something reserved for the end of the day, the weekend, the vacation, or the moment exhaustion finally forces us to stop.

Blue Zone life suggests another possibility: Do not wait until you crash to recover.

Interrupt the cycle while the day is still happening.

Take ten quiet minutes after lunch before returning to work.

Walk outside without bringing another source of information with you.

Sit in the sun.

Breathe slowly enough to feel your shoulders release.

Talk to someone who makes you feel safe rather than stimulated.

Close your eyes for a few minutes.

Step away from the screen before your body has reached the point of depletion.

The exact ritual matters less than what it communicates: Nothing needs to be solved for these few minutes.

Your body is allowed to come down.

That is not laziness. It is recovery.

And repeated daily, recovery becomes part of the way you age.

The goal is not to eliminate stress. No culture and no human life can do that.

The goal is to stop allowing stress to occupy every available hour between waking and sleep.

The world’s longest-living people have spent decades practicing something modern life often teaches us to postpone: Come down before you are completely depleted.

Rest before your body demands it.

Let joy, connection, quiet, and recovery interrupt the work instead of waiting for the work to finally end.

Follow along for more practical, natural steps to slow biological aging and live a longer, fuller life.

📢Nourish is back — one last time in 2026!

Nikki & I are running our final workshop of the year, and due to popular demand, Nourish is returning.

Designed for women 45–65, this workshop gives you clarity, confidence, and practical tools to support your changing body — without the overwhelm.

What you’ll walk away with:

🌿A clear starting point so you finally know where to begin.

🌿Your personalised protein target to maintain muscle mass, strength, and independence as you age.

🌿A comprehensive list of plant and animal protein sources with real portions to help you hit your daily goal.

🌿Evidence based menopause support strategies that actually make sense for your body.

🌿Tools to protect your long term health — bone density, insulin resistance, cholesterol, and metabolic wellbeing.

🌿The confidence to advocate for yourself in every health conversation.

🌿And with Nikki’s guidance, you’ll uncover old beliefs that are still shaping your mid life — even though they no longer serve you.
These beliefs influence how you eat, your consistency with exercise, how you feel about yourself, and that familiar pull toward external validation. Releasing them is where real change begins.

Still not sure if this is for you?

Here's what Nourish 1.0 women had to say:

“Karen, I am so happy to know that I am not a crazy woman! I feel a few changes are coming my way. Nikki, I always feel that I learn more about myself.”

“What a rewarding experience. Great insight into the mind/body relationship and wellbeing.”

“Today I learned that it’s important to make time for personal health, because I am worth it.”

“An informative session that challenged old thought patterns and helped me create a new perspective.”

“I loved the workshop today! It allowed me to think about parts of my life I sometimes rush over.”

These reflections capture exactly what Nourish is about — clarity, empowerment, and a deeper connection to your long term wellbeing.

A final thought..
This workshop isn’t just about today. It’s about your future strength, your future health, your future self.

A lot of women need others to tell them they are good enough.

They need praise at work or hone.

They need invites from friends.

They require something outside of them to feel it.

These things are nice, of course.

We all want our partners to tell us what a great job we are doing.

We want friends to want our company at the next event.

We want our business to be thriving with clients on a wait list.

We think this will make us feel better. More worthy. Good enough.

The reality is that unless we can feel good enough on our own, nothing anyone does or says will matter.

When we were trying for a baby, my husband told me all the time I was enough for him.

I never believed him.
I wanted to but couldn’t.

I had to know it myself.

I had to discover the part of me that was not the wife, the maybe-mum, the daughter, the friend.

I had to find the “me” that was worthy just by existing.

This requires slowing down.
Connecting to your body.
Becoming friends with your mind.
Believing in yourself.
Trying things and not being afraid to fail.
Finding what you love.
Leaning on people who support you.

I help you do this.
I’ve been there.
I’ve gone first.

Curious? See my process live and in action.

You hit your 40s and things start to shift. Not all at once… but slowly, everything starts to change.

You notice you’re more overwhelmed by things that never used to bother you.

You’re juggling everything — the kids, the house, the laundry, the groceries, the lunches, the sports, the family, the parents, the job. (Seriously… when did all of this become our responsibility?) And yet, you keep showing up because you can — and because you love the people you’re showing up for.

Somewhere along the way, your needs slipped to the bottom of the list. You tell yourself you’ll figure it out later… once everyone else is sorted.

Your stress levels creep higher. You sigh more.

You swear under your breath — and out loud in the car.

Your waistline expands, even when you’re “doing everything right.” You catch your reflection and wonder where that 30 year old body disappeared to.

Your cycle changes. Your mood changes. Your tolerance for other people’s nonsense? Definitely changes.

You reach for coffee to clear the morning fog, then another pick me up at 3pm just to keep going. You run on the hamster wheel, counting down to the next break.

And when you finally get a moment to yourself, you escape into social media — scrolling, scrolling, scrolling — hoping no one calls out “Mum…” But instead of clarity, you get bombarded with advice, opinions, and people selling you the dream: Better sleep. Weight loss. More protein. More fibre. Hormone hacks. Magic fixes.

You take it all in, head to the shops… and suddenly everything says PROTEIN.
It’s overwhelming. It’s confusing. And honestly — it shouldn’t be.

If this feels like your life, then it’s time to book your seat!

🌿 What NOURISH will provide you with:
✔ Clarity on where to start — no more guessing, no more overwhelm.
✔ Exactly how much protein YOU need to maintain muscle and stay strong as you age.
✔ A comprehensive list of plant and animal protein sources — and the real amounts YOU need to hit YOUR daily target.
✔ Support strategies for menopause that are evidence based and actually make sense.
✔ Tools to support your bone density, insulin resistance, cholesterol, and long term metabolic health.
✔ The confidence to advocate for yourself as your body transitions.

You can’t change your genetics or family history — but you can support your body to reduce your risks and stay strong, capable, and independent well into your 80s.

And this is just my part of our awesome afternoon....

Nikki will help you recognise the stories you tell yourself everyday, the patterns and thoughts that create friction in midlife and so much more!

This is your moment to step out of survival mode and into informed, empowered action to NOURISH your mind, body and soul!

Book your seat NOW! Your future self will thank you!

Today I took action on something I’ve been wanting to do for weeks.

I booked into a group coaching experience for a month. Yay!
I'm so excited and it feels so right, so why did I wait so long?!

This is an old pattern of mine…

I hover.
Think about booking. Open the page. Close it.
Then tell myself, “I’ll think about it.” or “I’ll wait for a sign!”

It’s so ridiculous!

Mostly because I know exactly what is happening in my brain!

It's... What if I don’t get what I want from it?

And...Should I spend the money somewhere else?

It’s the same thing I think every time, even though those thoughts are not true or relevant anymore!

I’ve worked with this pattern a lot over the years and I could see exactly what I was doing.

My ability to see my thoughts and how they are helping me or hurting me, is so sharp now.

Would you love the ability to recognise why you’re not getting the results you want in your life? In your relationship? Career? With finances? Health?

When you were young you created thoughts and beliefs to protect you.

The truth is, the thoughts and beliefs from your 20s, are no longer relevant in our 40s or 50s.

The moment I became aware that my hesitation wasn’t intuition — it was just old thought patterns — I booked in.

Recognising your patterns and what thoughts are still creating friction in your midlife, is what I am going to share with you at NOURISH - my collab workshop with Karen Land.

Join us for an afternoon High Tea at Lake Broadwater in May.
