When your child has surgery, you naturally want to do everything you can to help them feel comfortable and support their recovery.
As a Kinesiologist and someone who takes a natural, holistic approach, these are some of the things I reached for!
Not everything I use is “woo woo” some are simple things we know can support recovery, and some are the more holistic tools I’ve come to trust through my own experience and work.
For me, it’s never about choosing natural OR medical care. We absolutely used what was needed after surgery, for us thay was paracetamol for the first 3–4 days while the pain was at its worst. After that, we used homeopathy for pain relief and support as they continued to recover.
It’s about supporting the body from all angles, following the advice of the professionals who have performed the surgery, and using the tools I have available to help my child through the process.
Because supporting the body doesn’t always have to be complicated.
Sometimes it’s the little things ; warmth, rest, nourishment, gentle support, listening to what their body needs and giving it time to do what it does best!
This is what it looked like for us
