Do you ever get to the end of the day and feel like you’ve been wrung out?
I felt like that recently. After a session of my own, I started thinking about how all the little things had been adding up. I was completely worn out, not because of one big thing, but because of all the little things, one after another.
That’s when the towel image popped into my head. I’m a visual person, so I could picture it straight away: one twist for the morning rush, one for the worrying, one for being needed by everyone all day, another for all the jobs waiting after work.
Twist, twist, twist.
It got me thinking about how often we wait for the bigger things to help us relax, the next massage, a hair appointment, a day off or a weekend away. Those things are lovely. But we don’t have to wait for one big reset. Small moments of care during an ordinary day give us little chances to pause and loosen some of those twists.
And if you’ve noticed I’ve been a little quiet on here lately, that’s partly why. I’ve been trying to make a bit more space for my own untwisting. Nothing fancy, just noticing what helps me feel a little more like myself.
A warm cuppa. A longer shower. A quiet book. A few slower breaths. A walk. A catch-up with a friend.
What does your untwisting look like? 🤍
