Think you know your calories? Prove it 👀

We've built the most advanced free calorie & macro calculator for athletes, and we want to make it flawless. We need real data from people who track properly.

✅ WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You should:
• Be at calorie maintenance, OR in a controlled deficit/surplus that's giving you the results you expect
• Have a body fat % from a DEXA scan or a BIA scan (InBody, Evolt, etc.)
• Track your macros daily and be able to give us your 7-day average intake
• Track your workouts regularly

📲 HOW TO TAKE PART
1. Go to realnutrition.com.au → Calorie & Macro Calculator (link in bio)
2. Select the Performance (Athletes) tab
3. Enter your details: gender, age, weight, height and your scanned body fat %
4. Set your weight goal to match what you're actually doing (maintenance, deficit or surplus)
5. Add a typical week of training: your lifts (sets, reps, load, RIR), your cardio sessions, and your baseline daily activity
6. Screenshot your results (rest day + training day calories and macros)

📊 WHAT TO SEND US
DM us:
• Screenshot of your calculator results
• Screenshot of your 7-day average intake from your tracking app (calories + protein, fat, carbs)
• Whether you're at maintenance, or your deficit/surplus and how your weight has trended over that week
• What you used to track your body fat % (DEXA or (InBody, Evolt, etc.)

🎁 WHAT YOU GET
Your feedback directly improves the calculator, and in return you get LIFETIME ACCESS to it, even when it becomes paid.

So what are you waiting for? Give it a go 💪

Does sugar actually CAUSE diabetes? 🍩🤔

It’s one of the most common questions we hear as Accredited Practising Dietitians: "Will eating too much sugar give me Type 2 Diabetes?"

The short answer? Eating sugar does not automatically result in a diagnosis. But there is a catch.

High consumption of refined sugars (especially sugary drinks) provides "empty calories" that easily lead to excess weight, fatty liver, and systemic inflammation. This creates a vicious feedback loop that taxes your pancreas and drives insulin resistance.

So, do you need to fear sugar and never eat it again? Absolutely not! 🚫

At REAL Health & Nutrition, we don't believe in flipping your life upside down or cookie-cutter meal plans. Instead of focusing on what to restrict, we focus on what to add—like fibre-rich plants, quality proteins, and healthy fats—to slow down glucose absorption and stabilise your energy.

Most people are told to aim for 30g of protein per meal to optimise muscle recovery and metabolic health, but very few know how much you actually need to hit a 30g per meal target!

There is a massive difference between a small chicken breast and 4 cups of cooked pasta. If you are guessing your portions, you might be missing your performance targets or overconsuming calories without realising it.

We have simplified the science. Our latest blog breaks down 30 different foods, from lean meats and dairy to plant-based staples and supplements, with the exact weights and household measurements you need to reach the 30g threshold.

Inside the guide:

Animal vs. Plant-based portion comparisons

The impact of fat content on protein volume

Why 30g is the "gold standard" for muscle protein synthesis

Practical measurements for easy meal prep

Stop guessing and start fueling with precision. 🥩
