๐ฉโโ๏ธ๐ Putting New Skills into Practice!
This week, Xanthia is attending four days of face-to-face training as part of her Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting (MPA) course, which she has been studying for the past 18 months! ๐๐
The practical training provides an opportunity to develop and practice clinical skills that will allow her to take on an expanded role within our practice.
๐ฉบ What does a Medical Practice Assistant (MPA) do?
An MPA is a valuable member of the general practice team, helping support our GPs and nurses with a range of administrative tasks including;
๐ฉบ Taking and recording clinical observations, including blood pressure and temperature
โค๏ธ Performing ECGs (heart tracings)
๐งช Collecting, labelling and handling certain medical specimens
๐งผ Maintaining infection control procedures, sterilisation processes and medical supplies
๐ฉน Assisting with wound care and minor procedures under clinical direction
๐ Monitoring medical and medication stock levels
๐ฉโโ๏ธ Supporting our doctors and nurses to help keep the treatment room running smoothly
MPAs work alongside our clinical team, helping improve patient care and allowing our GPs and nurses to focus on the tasks that require their expertise.
๐ We're proud of Xanthia's commitment to furthering her education and developing her skills over the past 18 months.
We look forward to seeing you put your new skills into practice here at Karalta General Practice, Xanthia! ๐๐
