It’s a thing people! Personally I don’t have this exact variant - or maybe I’m just lucky Matthew Carroll eats as quietly as he moves through the house, apparition style, constantly scaring the s**t out of me.

But for a few years now, certain sounds (especially odd sounds) practically hurt my ears. Even kinda nice sounds like an excited dog yip or child squealing with laughter. And don’t get me started with those alert chimes on a plane.

The mechanism is this: declining oestrogen affects nerve firing and blood flow to the inner ear, meaning auditory pathways process sound differently.

It also ties in to the sudden experience of tinnitus for some women (ringing in the ears) and random bouts of vertigo šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

So you’re not just becoming an intolerant hoe. Well, actually, you are. But it’s not your fault and you’re not overreacting x

Ahh, yoghurt. The all time most-asked about food in my nutrition groups.

Let’s be clear in that a ā€˜good’ yoghurt doesn’t HAVE to be one that’s also high in protein. Probiotics (live beneficial cultures/bacteria) like lactobacillus and bifidobacteria are the whole point of fermented foods - but why wouldn’t you want one that’s great for both?? I certainly do.

For those who struggle meeting their protein goals, yoghurt can be an easy add - particularly for breaky where the facade of certain foods being ā€˜breakfast foods’ still reigns supreme.

For my label detectives, I recommend about a 2:1 ratio of Protein:Carb to call it a good protein source.
And no, a dollop of yoghurt on your cereal does not cut it. In fact, don’t get me started on cereal. Different post.

With something like the Chobani featured here, you’re getting almost 10g protein per 100g. That’s pretty decent!

Fat content in yoghurt is up to you. Some people prefer the mouthfeel of a full fat yoghurt. Personally I prefer a high protein, low carb AND low fat yoghurt because I love adding nuts, seeds & coconut flakes to the top of my yoghurt bowl and that’s a good portion of fat already.

If you don’t like yoghurt, or can’t tolerate yoghurt, don’t eat yoghurt. It’s not a requirement.

Just be honest about whether your chosen yoghurt is *actually* dessert.

How’s that juice habit working out for you?

If you’ve ever thought swigging 100% juice is just a thirst quenching way to get an apple in…think again. The difference is wild.

That bottle of juice not only leaves you hungry 20 mins later (and probably craving more carbs) it’s also a really average way to ā€˜have fruit’.

Less fibre, no digestion, gone in seconds, and packed with sugar you don’t need - yes even the 100% kind.

Eat smarter not harder folks. Start by not drinking your fruit šŸŽ
