Do you know how a reference range for a blood test result is made? The lab determines the reference ranges based on averages- wherever the statistical average of 95% of people fit form the range, and the 2.5% either side are considered out of range. The problem with this is that being ‘average’ does not make you healthy! If there is a wide spread of results from the population the the range is not representing where your levels should sit for true health. There is often a huge difference in how you may feel at the bottom or top of the range! Simply fitting with the range does not mean you feel your best!

Here is a snap shot of some of the most helpful tests I will review with my patients. The top section is nutritionals, and the bottom are hormones. The ranges quoted are the ranges that I aim for my patients to sit in to ensure they are feeling their best. Use this guide to check in on your own blood test results and ensure you are sitting in the optimal range, not the average. Because we don’t want to feel average!

So so much! A microbiome stool analysis is a deep dive into how your gut is functioning, and why you may be experiencing symptoms such as bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, gas, IBS etc. And it helps us to formulate a plan on what your gut needs to be working well and primed with a healthy microbial flora environment. Naturopathic things we have taken to Bali- and we have needed them all! Click through to see my essentials list- the last slide is my number one essential recommendation for travel to Bali!

Immunitone has come in handy as the kids have been hit with influenza while we are away! So far I haven’t got it and put that down to my Immunitone daily! We also bought these temperature stable probiotics to take daily to help reduce the risk of Bali belly- worked a treat so far!

Love these daily probiotics for kids as they taste great and are also temperature stable so great to travel with to prevent upset tummies.

Thanks Molly Ohlback | Acne & Dermatitis Naturopath for the recommendation on this one! LOVING this slightly tinted 50+ natural zinc - no nasty ingredients and it feels light and soft on my face instead of thick and oily like so many other natural sunscreens

A daily dose of electrolytes at breakfast getting us through the hot days!

Glad I threw this in last minute for the kids as they have been sick and this has helped to support their immune systems

And the best, most essential one! The probiotic SB is been well researched to prevent travellers diarrhoea- we started this one week before we headed the Bali, and daily while here. I’ve managed to hide/sprinkle some into the kids juices too!

Have you had your vitamin D levels checked recently? I’ve been blown away at how many blood tests results I have seen of late with such low vitamin D levels! Vitamin D comes from sun exposure and now that we are deep in winter it’s really starting to show up as an issue for many of my patients. Low vitamin D can cause:
- poor bone health
- low moods/low serotonin
- poor immunity
- increased risk if autoimmune and skin issues

I think the biggest thing on this list here is mood! We all know we need vitamin D for our bones but the short term impact of vitamin D deficiency causing low and flat moods really is huge. And I’ve seen huge mood improvements in my recent patients who supplement to bring their levels up- they feel better within a few short weeks.

So take this as a little reminder to ensure it’s added on your winter bloods. And let’s skip through the rest of winter time and get back the sun ☀️ .

P.S- photo from summer and I can’t wait to get back to the beach with my boys!

Hello just a little appointment update! At the moment, I’m fully booked until early October, and August and September are full. For new patient wanting something sooner- both Lauren and Molly can see you with 2-3 weeks and are amazing Naturopaths! Feel free to send me a message and I can suggest which may be the best fit for you :)

Please remember that if you need something urgent always contact me as I can waitlist you and often spots pop up!

If you do need to change an upcoming appointment I would be so appreciative of as much notice as possible as it’s such a juggle trying to find you a new spot, and it gives me enough time to fill your spot from the waitlist. Thanks so very much for understanding!
