Podiatry Week 2026

Ever wondered why your podiatrist asks you to walk up and down the room barefoot?

It’s one part of a biomechanical assessment, and it tells us a lot about how your whole body moves, not just your feet.

Gait analysis - how your foot lands and rolls, how your knees and hips line up, and where extra load is building up.

Biomechanical assessment - joint range of motion, muscle strength, foot posture and alignment from the ground up.

Footwear assessment- whether your shoes fit, support and suit your feet and the way you use them. The right shoe can make a real difference to pain, comfort and stability.

Balance and stability - how steady you are on your feet, and what might be making you feel unsteady.

Pain in your heel, knee, hip or lower back can sometimes start with the way your feet move. And for older Australians, changes in feet, footwear and balance can quietly increase the risk of a fall.

That’s why falls prevention is a big part of what we do. Podiatrists can identify your risk factors early and help you stay steady and independent with strength and balance exercises, footwear advice, orthoses and ongoing foot care.

Feeling unsteady, or noticed a loved one shuffling or tripping more often? It’s worth getting checked. You don’t need a referral to see a podiatrist privately.

Welcome to 2026 PODIATRY WEEK! 👣

Your feet do more than you think. So do podiatrists.

Your feet carry you through work, family, sport and everything in between, and they’re often where the first signs of diabetes, circulation problems and arthritis show up. Podiatrists are university-trained health professionals who diagnose, treat and help prevent problems of the feet and lower limbs, keeping people of all ages moving, working and independent.

This week we’re joining the Australian Podiatry Association to celebrate the work podiatrists do in clinics, hospitals, aged care and people’s own homes, here in the Hunter and around the world.

A little favour to ask of our wonderful patients 💚

This week, we lost 2.5 hours of appointment time to late cancellations and no-shows.

That might not sound like much, but it's time another patient could have used to get their foot pain, wound or nail problem sorted, and many of our patients are waiting for an appointment.
As a small local practice, those empty chairs also make it harder for us to keep providing the care our community relies on. It makes it harder to keep the lights on, the insurance and rent paid and harder to pay our staff’s wages.
At the moment small businesses like Allied Health Practices run on razor thin margins in order to keep fees at an absolute minimum for our patients.

Our cancellation policy:
👣 Please give us at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an in Clinic appointment. NDIS and Support at Home appointments require 2 full business days notice due to complexities.
👣 Late cancellations and no-shows will inccur a fee.
👣 Running late or unwell? Just call us on 49896496. We'll always do our best to help.
👣 Respond to the SMS appointment reminders- this helps us immensely.
