Invisible Disabilities Week | 19–25 October 🌻

At Step 2 Allied Health, we’re proud to be a Professional Member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network.

Our team receives Hidden Disabilities Sunflower training to help us better understand and support people living with invisible disabilities 💙

We also have Sunflower items, including lanyards, pins and bracelets, available free of charge at our sites for anyone who would like one 🌻

A big thank you to the Hidden Disabilities Australia for their ongoing advocacy, education and work to create greater awareness, understanding and inclusion for people with invisible disabilities.

We know finding the right support can take time, so we’re sharing an update on our current estimated wait times across our services.

Swipe through to see current availability for Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Behaviour Support, Counselling, Driving Assessments, Specialised Driver Training, Support Work and Therapy Assistant services.

A few things to keep in mind:
✨ Wait times are estimates for new referrals and may vary depending on individual needs, service complexity and clinician availability
✨ People already on our waitlist will be prioritised ahead of new referrals
✨ Once you submit a referral, our team will confirm receipt and be in touch when a clinician has capacity.

This year’s theme, “Allied health: For everyone, everywhere,” recognises the vital role AHP’s play in supporting the health, wellbeing and participation of people across Australia - in so many different settings and communities.

A little team bonding outside the office! 🎉🌮

Last Thursday, the Step 2 team headed to MexiCam’s Restaurant, Bar & Games. 🌮🎳🍋‍🟩 for an afternoon of good food, plenty of laughs and a whole lot of fun!

We’re lucky to have such a great bunch of people behind Step 2, and it was so nice to spend some time together outside of the usual work day 💙

Our COO, Zac Demopoulos, recently joined the Behaviour Bits podcast to chat about getting started in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) within the NDIS - and the episode is now live! 🎙️

The conversation covers the steep learning curve that comes with starting out in behaviour support, including uncertainty, imposter syndrome, informed consent, clinical frameworks, psychological safety and sustainable practice.

Zac shares his experience and practical insights into what helps new practitioners develop confidence and, importantly, what helps support good practice over time.
