Great advice!

Great advice!

If the NDIS calls you for a “check-in”, you do not have to discuss your support needs on the spot.

The Agency describes a check-in as a conversation about how your plan is going. In our collective experience, we know it can also lead to an unscheduled reassessment.

Before you answer questions about what support you use or whether you’re “doing okay”, find out what the call is actually about.

You can say:

“I don’t consent to having this conversation right now. I’m requesting that you please email me the request for the check-in, the reasons why, and confirm whether my plan is being reassessed or whether a reassessment is being considered. I’d like some appointment options to book a time when I’m prepared and my support person can attend.”

If they say it’s just a check-in, you can still book it for another time. If they pressure you to have the call the next day, ask for more time. You don’t have to agree to a time that suits them but leaves you unable to prepare or have your support person there.

Ask what they want to discuss, tell them to put it in an email. Gather your reports and write down what support you need day to day and what would happen without it. Be careful with “I’m fine” or “I’m managing”. If family or friends are filling the gaps, or you’re going without support you need, make sure the NDIA hears that too.

Always ask for a written summary of the conversation. If they tell you your plan is being reassessed, ask what evidence you can provide and when it’s due.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, ask for things in writing, and don’t let anyone pressure or sweet-talk you into agreeing to something you haven’t had time to understand.

Are you an NDIS provider? With all the changes occurring in the space, do you know your level of risk for Burnout?
Take this free questionnaire to find where you might be at risk and where to focus your efforts.

Have you ever caught yourself saying, “I’m fine… I’m just tired,” but deep down you know you’re running on empty?

Burnout doesn’t always look like falling apart.

Sometimes it looks like:

• Keeping everything going while having very little left for yourself
• Struggling to switch off after work
• Saying yes when you really want to say no
• Putting your wellbeing at the bottom of the list
• Feeling like you’re constantly “on”

That’s why I created the **Burnout Prevention Scorecard**.

It looks at four important areas:

**Work Demands
**Personal Time
**Self-Care
**Boundary Setting

The goal isn’t to tell you that you’re doing life “wrong”.

It’s to help you step back, see where pressure may be building, and identify where a few changes could make the biggest difference.

The scorecard is Free, and your results are personalised and confidential.

If any of this feels familiar, take a few minutes to check in with yourself.

Sometimes the first step is simply recognising that pushing through isn’t the same as coping well.

Support Coordination can feel overwhelming — especially when you’re new.

You’re expected to:
• Understand complex NDIS systems
• Explain plans to participants & families
• Stay compliant
• Run a business
• And somehow stay confident while doing it

No wonder so many Support Coordinators feel stressed, isolated, or second-guessing themselves.

At Satellite Support Services, we support the people who support others.

💜 You don’t need to “just figure it out”
💜 You don’t need to do this alone
💜 And you don’t need to burn yourself out to be good at what you do

Support starts with clarity, guidance, and connection — and that’s exactly what we provide.

"Housing autonomy isn’t a luxury—it’s essential infrastructure." 👏

A support system should empower and enhance your life, not constrain it. Know your needs, speak up, and advocate for housing and care that truly supports your family.

You probably don’t need more information.
You already know that you should set boundaries, trust yourself, take action, prioritise your health, make the decision or finally begin the thing you keep postponing.

The problem is not always knowing what to do.
The problem is that old habits, beliefs and stories are often stronger than your good intentions.

That is exactly why Empower Me was created.

Over four weeks, we will explore:
• What you genuinely want
• The patterns keeping you stuck
• The way you see yourself
• How your thoughts, feelings and actions influence your results

This is not passive motivation.
It is an interactive introduction to coaching for people who are prepared to reflect, participate and take action.

If you are tired of circling the same problem and ready to begin doing something differently, Empower Me may be your next step.

Commencing August 25, 2026
