Last week on Friday and Saturday 16 & 17 October, we had a stall at the Catalyst Foundation dalexpoau expo and to say we had a blast, was an understatement.

We had a game called “key to quality care” and 10 in 100 keys opened the box to a prize of their choosing 🪎

It was a pretty big hit and we would like to take the time to congratulate all the winners with their chosen prizes.

We will be posting some more behind the scenes from the expo in the coming days but for now, congratulations to all the lucky winners!

They spent the day chatting with some of our amazing stallholders, hearing more about what they do and the supports and services they provide within the community.

Thanks Cam and Andy for coming along, getting amongst it and sharing some of the stories from the day!

💗 Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Accessibility Matters 💗

Yesterday, our Business and client engagement manager Tahnee attended a networking event where she had the opportunity to connect with BreastScreen SA and learn more about the accessible breast screening options available for women living with disability.

It was great to learn that BreastScreen SA provides additional support and adjustments to help women with disability access breast screening, including women with intellectual disability, limited mobility and those who use wheelchairs. Support people and carers can also assist women to attend their appointments.

Women are eligible to access BreastScreen SA from the age of 40, with women aged 50–74 encouraged to have a breast screen every two years. Screening is free for eligible women and does not require a doctor's referral.

For us at Care Squad, this was such important information to take away. Women living with disability can sometimes face additional barriers when accessing preventative healthcare, so knowing that accessible and supportive screening options are available is something we want to share with our participants, families and wider community.

Early detection can make an enormous difference. 💕 Sometimes something as simple as sharing the right information and helping someone access an appointment can be potentially life-saving.

If you support a woman living with disability who may benefit from breast screening, you can contact BreastScreen SA on 13 20 50 to discuss individual accessibility and support requirements.

🌟 Welcome to Care Squad, Dhyani! 🌟

We’re excited to welcome Dhyani, who has joined the Care Squad team while completing her university placement with us as part of her Human Resources degree at Flinders University. 🎓

During her placement, Dhyani will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn more about HR within the disability sector, and work alongside our team behind the scenes.

We love being able to support students as they take the next step in their careers and bring fresh ideas and perspectives into our workplace.

Please join us in giving Dhyani a big Care Squad welcome! 💙

We’re looking forward to having you as part of the team, Dhyani! 🙌
