Chook's Epidermal Inkworks Custom tattooing Chook is a classic man. A very old-school kinda guy. He prides himself on his clean lines, impeccable colour blending and superb shading skills.

Appreciates the finer things in life – a good whiskey, a nice cruiser and a well-executed tattoo. He really does have an eye for detail. He’s worked hard to establish himself as a great artist over the past 18 years. And he’s succeeded. His style is described as ‘versatile, adaptable and fluid’, so rest assured, you’ll always get exactly what you’re after with this guy. Consultations before your booking are preferable so we can meet you, get the vibe of the design from you and go over any design ideas. It's about it being a collaboration with you - you tell us what you want and we interpret it onto paper then onto your body.

Heritage Tattoo Gallery is looking for an experienced tattoo artist to join our studio!

We’re an established, council-approved and insured studio in Gisborne, backed by over 20 years of tattooing experience.

We primarily operate by appointment, with limited walk-in traffic, so this opportunity would best suit an artist who has already built their own clientele and has an established following.

What we can offer:
✨ A professional, insured and council-approved studio
✨ Flexibility to set your own working hours
✨ A relaxed, established studio environment
✨ Flexible arrangements – open to discussion about either weekly chair rental or a percentage-based agreement
✨ A willingness to work with the right artist to find an arrangement that suits everyone

What we’re looking for:
🖤 At least 2 years of professional tattooing experience
🖤 An established portfolio and their own client base
🖤 An existing social media following
🖤 A professional attitude and pride in their work
🖤 Preference for an artist who can do realism

🦖 TEAM TRICERATOPS OR TEAM T. REX? You don’t have to choose… 👀

Some people have a favourite dinosaur. Our client has TWO! And honestly, they’re both pretty hard to beat. 🔥

But here’s where things get interesting… 🤓👇

🦕 TRICERATOPS — THE THREE-HORNED TANK

• 🦴 Those horns weren’t just for show! Scientists believe they were used for defence, fighting rivals and possibly displaying dominance.

• 💀 Its enormous frill might have helped with display and recognition, not just protection. Scientists are still investigating exactly how it was used.

• 🌿 Despite looking like a prehistoric battle machine, Triceratops was a plant-eater! That giant beak was perfect for chomping vegetation.

🦖 TYRANNOSAURUS REX — THE KING WITH A SECRET

• 💪 Those tiny arms were surprisingly strong for their size, with two clawed fingers. They were short, but definitely not completely useless!

• 👃 T. rex had an excellent sense of smell, with a large olfactory region in its brain. Dinner wasn’t getting past unnoticed!

• 🦷 Its teeth could reach around 30 cm long when measured including the root. And unlike many predators, T. rex could crush bone, not just tear through flesh.

🤯 AND HERE’S THE WILD PART…

These two actually lived at the same time in what is now western North America, around 68–66 million years ago. So yes, they really did share the same prehistoric world!

Imagine having to choose between a horned heavyweight and the ultimate bone-crunching predator. 😂

❤️ Some tattoos are more than just ink. They’re a little piece of someone you love, carried with you forever. 🐒🏍️

This one has a pretty special story behind it. ❤️

A dad came in to get this little monkey riding a monkey bike, created to represent his son. And honestly, it’s those personal tattoos that remind us why we love what we do. 🥹

And one day, when his son is older, he’ll get to look at this tattoo and know that his dad loves him so much to carry a reminder of him wherever he goes. ❤️
