SenseUp Training - Sensory Upskilling Sensory theory → real-life OT practice. Practical strategies, real cases, and real clinical confidence.

Have you worked with a child who knows exactly what they want to do...

but their body just doesn’t seem to make it happen?

They may have the idea.
They may understand the game.
They may know what they want to build.

But organising the movement is where things start to fall apart.

That is why simply observing the movement is not enough.

We need to become curious about what might be happening underneath it — ideation, perception, prediction, motor planning, sequencing, coordination, sensory-motor processing, feedback and learning.

Because two children can struggle with the same activity for very different reasons.

On 24 November, Kerry takes this clinical reasoning much deeper in:

The child understands the task. So why can’t they make the movement work?

That question matters.

Knowing what a child struggled to do does not always tell us why they struggled.

A child may have the idea, understand the rules and even explain what they want to do - yet still find it difficult to organise, coordinate, adapt or learn the movement.

Another child may succeed in therapy today, but struggle to reproduce the skill next week or use it somewhere else.

The outward presentation may look similar. The reason underneath it may be very different.

Beyond Coordination: Making Sense of DCD and Praxis

Understanding the Child Behind the Praxis Challenge

In this LIVE SenseUp Masterclass, Kerry will explore:
• Ideation and perception
• Movement prediction
• Motor planning and sequencing
• Coordination, feedback and adaptation
• Sensory-motor foundations
• Regulation and motor learning
• Occupational participation

You’ll also explore the difference between understanding a task, performing it, learning it and carrying that learning into everyday life.

WORLD OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DAY 💚
Today we celebrate occupational therapists around the world.

The OTs who notice the things others might miss.

Who look beyond whether a child can complete a task and ask what is helping or getting in the way of participation.

Who understand that play is an occupation.

That getting dressed matters.

That joining friends matters.

That managing the school day matters.

That eating with family matters.

That feeling capable, connected and included matters.

And that sometimes the smallest change in an environment, expectation or approach can make a very big difference to a child’s everyday life.

Occupational therapy is not simply about teaching skills.

It is about understanding the person, the occupation and the world around them - and helping create more opportunities for meaningful participation.

To every OT doing that work today:

We see you.
We value you.
And we are incredibly proud to be part of this profession with you.

Happy World Occupational Therapy Day from all of us at SenseUp. 💚

Making participation possible for children worldwide.

And because it’s OT Week, our small gift to you is still available:

OT WEEK 💚🎁 Read to the end to grab your FREE Guide!

This week, we’re celebrating the OTs who keep showing up, thinking deeply, asking better questions and finding ways to make participation possible.

Not just achievement.
Not just performance.
Participation.

The child who finally joins the game.
The child who finds a way to get dressed with a little more independence.
The child who feels understood instead of corrected.
The child who gets to experience movement, play, learning and everyday life in a way that works for them.

That is the heart of occupational therapy.

So, for OT Week, we wanted to give you something useful to take straight back into practice.

🎁 FREE SENSEUP CLINICAL OBSERVATION GUIDE

The Child Knows What They Want to Do… So Why Can’t They Do It?

5 Clinical Clues That Help Therapists Look Beyond the Movement

A practical observation guide to help you look more closely at what may be happening when a child has difficulty planning, coordinating, learning or adapting movement.

Because an observation is not yet an explanation.

And understanding WHY is what helps us decide what to do next.

A small gift from our team to you. 💚
For every OT working to make participation possible for children around the world.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for:

Sensory Features in Diagnostic Groups: Physical and Motor Challenges
Through the SenseUp Lens

We loved spending the session with you and exploring the clinical reasoning that sits beneath physical and genetic presentations.

Thank you for your questions, your engagement and for bringing your own clinical experience into the conversation.

These are complex children and complex presentations, and that is exactly why these discussions matter.

We hope you leave with a few new questions to take back to your caseload, a clearer way to connect the different parts of the clinical picture, and more confidence in knowing what to look at next.

To everyone who joined us LIVE, thank you for being part of the SenseUp community. 💚

And if you missed the live session, we’ve got you.

The replay will be available shortly.

ON WEDNESDAY, WILL YOU BE ASKING THE SAME QUESTIONS YOU’RE ASKING TODAY?

Professional development is useful when it changes something.

Not the number of notes sitting in a folder.

Not the number of certificates saved to your computer.

Something in practice.

Maybe you look at a child’s assessment differently.

Maybe something you had attributed to the diagnosis deserves another question.

Maybe you recognise pain or fatigue as clinically relevant sooner.

Maybe you connect a sensory finding to an occupation that has been difficult for months.

Maybe you finally have better language for explaining the clinical picture to a family.

That is what I want for you from tomorrow.

Not more information for the sake of information.

A clearer way to make sense of the next complex case on your caseload.

We go LIVE tomorrow at 18:00 AEST / 19:00 AEDT.

If you’ve been meaning to join us, registrations are still open for the next Masterclass.
Replays are available after the session.
