Activated nuts are far more digestible than raw nuts, and far better for you - raw nuts contain a range of natural but toxic compounds that stop our digestive system from working properly. If you are a vegetarian, vegan, have a history of digestive health issues, or just want the best, healthiest and most delicious food available, these nuts are for you!

We’re pretty used to finding almost any food we want, whenever we want it. But behind every bag of nuts is a global story, from the places where these nuts first evolved, to the farmers growing them today.

And this year, we’ve been reminded just how connected our food supply really is.

Crop shortages, weather events and global challenges can all have a ripple effect on what makes it onto our shelves.

So we thought we’d take a closer look at where some of our favourite nuts originated, who produces them today, and where Totally Nuts sources ours from.

From 1 October, new rules mean Australian businesses can no longer pass EFTPOS payment fees on to customers.

But there’s an interesting side to this that goes beyond the 1–2% fee…

Every time money changes hands electronically, a small slice can go to the bank or payment provider. Over and over again, that tiny percentage adds up — gradually leaking value out of our local economy.

💵 Cash is different.

When you pay with cash, your $50 stays $50 as it moves from one local business to another. No percentage is taken along the way.

So, from 1 October, we’re giving you 2% off when you pay with cash at our markets.

It’s not about penalising card payments — we’ll still happily accept them! It’s simply our little way of encouraging a payment method that keeps more value circulating within our community.

We’ve gone into a bit more detail about the new rules, the “hidden leak” in community currency and why we’ve made this decision over on our blog.

👉 Read the full story on the Totally Nuts blog.

And next time you’re at the market… maybe bring a little cash. 😉

2026 MACADAMIA UPDATE

Macadamia lovers may have noticed our supply has been a little hit-and-miss this year. Here’s why!

Unseasonal heavy rain across NSW and Queensland hit macadamia crops at a critical stage, with some growers harvesting as little as 10% of expected yields. This has meant very limited Australian organic macadamias since June.

We’re expecting one final Australian delivery in the next few weeks, then it’s a wait until the 2027 harvest.

In the meantime, we’ve sourced some beautiful certified organic macadamias from Kenya. They’ll be included in our Mixed Nuts from October, with standalone macadamias available in the New Year.

The good news? The 2027 Australian harvest is looking very promising!

Here’s to a smoother, crunchier year ahead, and plenty of delicious Australian macadamias!
