So true!
Thank you Moomysmilk

Babies are supposed to wake at night.

I know social media can make it feel like a “good baby” is one who sleeps 10–12 hours straight, but frequent waking in infancy can be completely normal. Babies wake for many reasons: hunger, comfort, connection, temperature changes, developmental changes, growth spurts, and because their sleep cycles are simply different from ours.

For breastfed babies especially, night feeding can be a normal part of maintaining intake and supporting milk production. Prolactin, one of the hormones involved in milk production, is generally higher overnight, so those nighttime feeds or pumping sessions can matter
especially in the early weeks while supply is being established.

That does not mean every baby must wake the same number of times, and it does not mean you should wake an older, healthy baby indefinitely without a medical reason. Feeding needs change with age, growth, medical history, and how well baby is gaining.

But a baby waking overnight is not automatically a sleep problem.
It is not proof that your milk is “not filling enough.”
It is not proof that you are doing something wrong.

Sometimes it is simply a baby
 being a baby.

And I really wish we would stop making exhausted parents feel like their infant has failed some imaginary sleep test because they still need them at 2 a.m. đŸ€
