WHEN DID LOOKING AFTER YOURSELF BECOME SOMETHING YOU HAD TO EARN? 💗

I'll book that appointment when things settle down.

I'll start exercising when the kids are less busy.

I'll take some time for myself when I've caught up on everything.

Sound familiar?

Here's a little reality check…

When exactly is life going to magically become less busy?!

Because from what I've seen after 18 years of working with women, there's ALWAYS something.

Another deadline.
Another family commitment.
Another person who needs you.
Another reason to put yourself last.

And before you know it, another six months have passed and you're still waiting for the perfect time to prioritise YOU.

But here's what I want you to consider.

What if you stopped treating your own wellbeing as the reward for getting everything else done?

What if you started making space for yourself NOW, even amongst the chaos?

Not by adding another ten things to your to-do list.

But by making small, intentional choices that remind you that your needs matter too.

Maybe that's saying no without a lengthy explanation.

Maybe it's taking 20 minutes to walk outside.

Maybe it's finally booking the appointment you've been putting off.

Or maybe it's simply asking yourself, "What do I actually need today?"

As we wrap up the work week, here are some questions to reflect on...

What are you waiting for permission to do for yourself?

And what would change if you gave yourself that permission TODAY?

Because the woman you keep putting last deserves a place at the top of the list too. 💗

What if the answer isn't always another prescription?

What if sometimes, we need to come back to basics?

To the simplicity of food as medicine.

To the incredible healing potential of herbs.

To nourishing our bodies rather than constantly pushing them to their limits.

We live in a world where we often want a quick fix for every symptom.

Feeling exhausted? Take something.

Can't sleep? Take something.

Feeling anxious, bloated or hormonally out of balance? Surely there's something to fix that!

And while medications absolutely have their place, I often wonder whether we've forgotten the power of the simple things.

When did we stop asking ourselves what our bodies might actually need?

Perhaps it's more nourishing food.

More time outdoors.

A little less caffeine and a little more sleep.

Maybe it's slowing down, setting boundaries or finally putting ourselves on the priority list.

Perhaps it's incorporating beautiful medicinal herbs to support our body's natural processes.

Or maybe it's simply giving ourselves permission to rest without feeling guilty.

Not every symptom has a simple solution, and sometimes medical treatment is absolutely necessary.

But I believe there's enormous value in looking at the foundations of our health before simply reaching for another solution.

After 18 years as a naturopath, one thing I've learnt is that sometimes the most powerful changes come from the simplest places.

We don't always need to do MORE.

Sometimes we need to nourish ourselves better, listen a little closer and create space for our bodies to thrive.

Food is powerful. Herbs are powerful. And so is self-care.

When was the last time you stopped and asked yourself, "What do I actually need right now?"

I was in my mid-30s when I started noticing changes in my own hormones.

And despite being a naturopath, it was a reminder that understanding hormones professionally and experiencing those changes yourself are two very different things!

I had to learn to listen to my body, recognise the subtle shifts and adapt how I supported myself along the way.

Here's something I wish more women knew…

You don't have to be having hot flushes to be experiencing hormonal changes.

In fact, the changes can begin YEARS before that first hot flush arrives!

Progesterone is often one of the first hormones to become less consistent as ovulation changes during the reproductive ageing process.

And those early signs? They can be incredibly subtle.

• Your once predictable menstrual cycle starts changing.
• You're suddenly waking at 3am.
• PMS feels more intense than it used to.
• You're feeling more anxious, irritable or overwhelmed.
• Your breasts become more tender.
• Your periods become heavier or more unpredictable.
• You feel like your body just isn't responding the way it once did.

Sound familiar?

As the years progress and oestrogen levels begin to fluctuate more dramatically, other changes may appear. Hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, changes in body composition and concerns about bone density.

But here's what I really want women to understand.

You don't have to wait until menopause to start supporting your hormonal health.

And you certainly don't have to accept feeling terrible as simply part of getting older!

With 18 years of clinical experience as a naturopath, and my own lived experience of navigating hormonal changes, I'm passionate about helping women understand what's happening in their bodies.

From supporting menstrual cycle changes in your 30s and 40s, through to perimenopause, menopause and beyond, I'm here to look at the WHOLE woman.

Your hormones, thyroid, gut health, nutrition, stress levels, sleep, metabolic health and so much more.

Whether you're looking for natural support or want a naturopath who can work alongside your GP or gynaecologist and prescribed hormone therapy, I'm here to help you explore your options.

Most importantly, I want you to feel HEARD. SEEN. And EMPOWERED.

Because no two women experience this transition in exactly the same way, and your healthcare shouldn't be one-size-fits-all either.

I'd love to know… when did YOU first start noticing changes in your hormones?

The SOUTH ASIAN ("Desi") MENOPASUAL WOMAN'S DILEMMA

Your cholesterol is “normal.” Your heart may not be.

If you’re a South Asian woman in your 40s or 50s, this is worth two minutes.

The risk is real, and the usual tests miss it
A large UK study followed people for 11 years. South Asians had about twice the risk of heart attack, stroke or needing a stent compared with Europeans. Yet the standard risk calculators doctors use predicted almost the same risk for both groups. That’s why US cardiology guidelines now list South Asian ancestry as a risk-enhancing factor.

Why menopause matters
Estrogen helps protect the heart. When it falls, LDL rises, fat moves to the belly and blood sugar gets harder to control. For South Asian women, this adds to risk that was already there.

It’s not more cholesterol, it’s a more dangerous kind
At the same LDL level, South Asians tend to carry more ApoB, the particles that actually build plaque, and less protective HDL. A “normal” LDL on your report doesn’t show how many of those particles are in your arteries.

Thin on the outside, fat on the inside
Many South Asians carry more fat in the liver and muscles and less muscle overall, even at a normal weight. Some of this may begin before birth: a mother’s low B12 combined with high folate in pregnancy has been linked to more insulin resistance in her children.

Women are often under-treated
Research shows South Asian women with early heart disease are treated less aggressively than their risk calls for. A family history of heart disease also counts for more in South Asians than in Europeans.

Picture this
A 52-year-old woman, a few years past menopause. Her LDL is 100 and she’s told she’s fine. But her ApoB is high, her Lp(a) is high, and a calcium scan already shows plaque. Find that early and she has years to change her course.

This is not destiny
When researchers account for modifiable factors like blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, belly fat and activity, much of the extra risk disappears. A Kaiser Permanente program targeting these factors in South Asians cut the need for stents and bypass by about two-thirds.

What you can do
✅ Ask for ApoB and a one-time Lp(a), not just a basic cholesterol panel.
✅ Check your blood pressure and HbA1c regularly. South Asians reach high blood pressure years earlier than many other groups.
✅ Lift weights 2–3 times a week and move more every day.
✅ Keep your dal, chana and sabzi; cut back on ghee and coconut oil.
✅ Ask your doctor whether a coronary calcium scan makes sense for you.

Menopause is the right time to look at your hormones and your heart together.

Somewhere along the way, did you lose a little bit of YOU?

Between being the mum, the partner, the career woman, the organiser, the fixer, the one who holds everything together… it's easy to forget about the woman underneath all those hats.

And I see this ALL the time in clinic.

Women who are incredibly capable, who show up for everyone else, who keep pushing through even when they're running on empty.

But behind the scenes?

They're exhausted. They're overwhelmed. Their health has taken a back seat. And somewhere along the way, they've lost that spark that once made them feel like THEM.

Here's what I want you to know…

You don't need another thing on your to-do list. And you certainly don't need to reinvent yourself.

Sometimes what you really need is the space to slow down, reconnect with your needs, understand what's happening in your body and start putting yourself back into the picture.

Without the guilt. Without the pressure to do it all perfectly.

Because looking after yourself isn't selfish. And you shouldn't have to reach breaking point before you give yourself permission to do it.

After 18 years of working with women, one thing I know for sure is that when a woman starts prioritising herself again, the ripple effect can be incredible. 🌿

More energy. More confidence. Better boundaries. And that beautiful feeling of being comfortable in your own skin again.

This is something I'm incredibly passionate about, and it's exactly why I'm creating more opportunities for women to feel supported, connected and empowered in 2027.

Because you deserve to feel like YOU again. 💗

Tell me… when was the last time you did something purely for YOU?

This weekend, I headed to Brisbane for the BioConcepts Neuroresilience Summit, and what a fantastic weekend it was!

Two days of learning, connecting with like-minded practitioners and diving deeper into something I'm incredibly passionate about — the connection between our brain, nervous system and overall health.

A few key themes really stood out to me:

Quality sleep is non-negotiable.

Sleep isn't just about feeling rested. It's essential for brain health, emotional regulation, hormone balance and our ability to cope with everyday stress.

Our brains need a break from technology.

We live in a world of constant stimulation. Notifications, scrolling, emails and the pressure to always be available. Creating space away from screens gives our brains a break and our nervous systems an opportunity to settle.

Human connection matters.

We're wired for connection. Meaningful relationships, community and feeling supported play an important role in our emotional wellbeing and resilience.

Understanding intergenerational trauma.

Exploring how experiences and patterns of stress can influence future generations, and how understanding these patterns may help us create healthier responses.

My biggest takeaway?

We can't keep expecting our bodies and minds to thrive when we're constantly pushing, doing,

Hey! 😊

I've been touching base with a few women lately and asking a question that's been on my mind as we head towards the end of the year...

How are you feeling about your health, energy and wellbeing as we wrap up 2026?

If things stayed exactly as they are right now, would you be happy heading into 2027?

Or would you love to...

🌿 Feel calmer and less overwhelmed
🌿 Wake up feeling refreshed and energised
🌿 Say goodbye to that constant bloating
🌿 Shift some stubborn weight
🌿 Feel more in control of your hormones and sleep
🌿 Finally feel like YOU again!

Sometimes we get so caught up looking after everyone else that our own health ends up at the bottom of the list.

I'm curious... what's one thing you'd really love to change about how you're feeling before heading into 2027?

I'd genuinely love to hear where you're at. 💚
