🍓 The bit nobody sees... until the crepes show up!

Before the smiles and the sprinkles, there's a kitchen, a pair of headphones, a lot of sliced strawberries, and one of our support workers getting everything just right.

Here's what goes on behind the scenes of a BTS activity day:

💙 Thinking about who's coming, what they love and what might make their day easier

It's not in any job description. But it's the stuff that turns "an activity" into "a day people actually look forward to".

🍞 Toast. That's it. That's the post.

Well... it's not really about the toast.

A young person we support spent weeks saying "I can't do it, you do it." Last week, they got up, got the bread out, and made their own breakfast. Butter a bit wonky. Jam everywhere. Biggest smile you've ever seen. 😄

Nobody rushed them. Nobody took over. We just stood beside them, cheered them on, and let them have a crack. 💙

That's what we mean when we say we build skills rather than just doing things for people. Sometimes independence looks like a messy kitchen and a very proud human.

Here's a truth that doesn't get said much: you can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone. 💙

Friends who mean well but say "I don't know how you do it." Family who love you but haven't seen the hard days. Appointments where you're the only one in the room who knows your child's whole story.

Sometimes it's 9pm, the house is finally quiet, and the loneliness hits harder than the tiredness ever did. Not because you're ungrateful. Not because you don't love them. Just because nobody else is carrying exactly what you're carrying.

If that's you tonight, we see you. You're not failing, and you're not the only one sitting at the kitchen table with a cold cup of tea, wondering if anyone else gets it.
