Sometimes, it starts with something as simple as 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 and supporting their choice.

During a recent day out, our participant enjoyed spending time in the community with his support worker by his side — with a well-deserved ice cream making the day a little sweeter. 🍦

This Seniors Month, we're pleased to see Horizon Community Services featured in MyCity Logan's 20 October edition, highlighting our commitment to compassionate aged care and supporting older Australians in our community. 💚

For us, ageing gracefully means having the right support to continue making choices, staying connected and enjoying the everyday things that make life meaningful.

Through personalised care, social and recreational activities, health monitoring and support at home, our goal is to help older people feel supported, valued and connected to their community. 💙

We're grateful for the opportunity to share this message with the wider Logan community during Seniors Month and to celebrate the older folks around us who continue to enrich our communities.

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗦 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀? 𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗬𝗧𝗛 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧. 🔎💚

With changes to the NDIS underway, it can be difficult to know what information applies to you.

One common misconception is that everyone's NDIS funding has suddenly been cut.

The reality is more specific. From October 2026, changes are being introduced to funding for certain supports within Social, Economic and Community Participation and Improved Daily Living Skills as plans are created or reassessed. Not every support category is affected, and the impact can differ between participants.

At 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, we believe participants and families deserve information that is clear, accurate and easy to understand as the NDIS continues to change.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲? 🛒💚

A recent grocery run became another opportunity for one of our participants to get out into the community, make everyday choices and enjoy a little independence along the way.

With their support worker alongside them, our participant took the lead — steering the trolley, browsing the aisles and getting the groceries they needed. 🛍️

Everyday activities like grocery shopping can be about much more than ticking items off a list. They can provide opportunities to practise decision-making, daily living skills, confidence and community participation — all while maintaining choice and control.

At 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, our support workers are there when needed while encouraging participants to take the lead in their own everyday lives. 💙
Because sometimes, independence looks like something as simple as choosing what's going into your trolley. 🛒✨

𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲, 𝘁𝗼𝗼? 🧘‍♂️🌿

One of our lovely participants switched on his zen mode, taking a quiet moment to meditate and simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings of his home. 💚

A calm and comfortable home can give us space to unwind, recharge and enjoy our own routines away from the busyness of everyday life. And sometimes, having that quiet space makes the little moments at home even more enjoyable.

At 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, we believe a home should feel like exactly that: a home.

Through our 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗜𝗟𝗢), we aim to create supportive living arrangements where participants can feel comfortable, follow their own routines, enjoy their interests and build greater independence with the right support around them.

And yes, that can include finding a quiet corner, taking a moment, and going full zen. 🧘‍♂️✨
