The Bone Bus is at our practice this week, bringing bone density testing right to our door. It is completely booked out, but the team will be back again.

Our guest Dr Tung, visiting from Vietnam, took the opportunity to see how mobile bone density screening is delivered in practice.

And right on cue, the jacaranda in our carpark has burst into bloom and covered the ground in purple. It is hard to walk past without stopping, but watch your step, because those fallen petals can be slippery!

Dr Charbel Badr recently joined the Hoc Mãi welcome reception at Royal North Shore Hospital, where Vietnamese doctors from many specialties were welcomed along with the supervisors hosting them. Dr Charbel attended as host supervisor for general practice.

Hoc Mãi means “Forever Learning”. It is a program of the Australia Vietnam Medical Foundation, and our practice is proud to support it. We will host a GP and a nurse through the program, and this week our guest Dr Tung is already with us, sitting in with our doctors and seeing how we do things.

It was a real pleasure to be part of the welcome, and we are grateful to everyone who makes the program possible.

Every nurse has a story behind why they chose this path, and Nurse Natalie is no different.

In this video, Natalie shares what first drew her to nursing, and what led her to join our team here at Hunters Hill Medical Practice.

Behind every great practice is a team who genuinely cares, and Natalie is a big part of that here.

Last week, Dr Charbel Badr was awarded NSW&ACT General Practice Supervisor of the Year at the 2026 RACGP Awards, held at the RACGP headquarters.

What made the night so special was who walked in. A group of his colleagues from our practice had quietly organised to be there, and he had no idea. It was a very special surprise!

Dr Charbel leads our supervision, but great teaching is never a one-person effort. Our registrars, medical students and international doctors learn from a whole team of doctors who give their time to teach and supervise on a regular basis.

That generosity is what makes our practice such a special place to learn and to work. To every one of our doctors, thank you for everything you give. We are so grateful for you 💚

We are so proud of our Medical Director, Dr Charbel Badr 🏆

At the RACGP headquarters last night, Dr Charbel was recognised for the dedication he brings to teaching and supervising the next generation of doctors. He gives so much to this work, week in and week out, and it shows in the registrars, medical students and international doctors he guides.

Congratulations Dr Charbel. This recognition is so well deserved, and we are lucky to have you leading our practice.

Today is Allied Health Professions Day.

Great care is rarely the work of one person. At our practice, your GP may work alongside a dietitian, a psychologist and a paediatric speech pathologist, so your care is joined up under one roof.

Your GP sees the full picture. Our allied health team focuses on the part of your health they know best.

Together, care feels connected instead of scattered.

Thank you to every member of our allied health team for what you do for our patients, every day.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and our practice is turning pink to show our support.

56 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia every day. Being breast aware and keeping up with your screening are two of the most important things you can do.

Women aged 50 to 74 can have a free screening mammogram through BreastScreen Australia.

Our team has set up an information desk with free breast health resources, ready for you to take home.

“Dr Claude Will See You Now.”

This morning, Dr Charbel Badr presented to the Hunters Hill University of the Third Age on AI in healthcare, exploring where the technology could help and showing the group how it works with live demonstrations.

It was a great chance to talk with our community about what AI can and can’t do, and what it might mean for the way we all look after our health in the future.

It was also a reminder of something we encourage at every age: keep mentally and physically active. Staying curious, learning something new and getting out and about are some of the best things we can do for our health.

Thank you to the Hunters Hill University of the Third Age for the warm welcome and thoughtful questions.

We're proud to share that our practice has been featured on the Bowel Cancer Australia website for our Red Apple Day efforts.

Every June, we bring our patients, staff and community together to raise awareness of bowel cancer, one of the most common cancers in Australia. Early detection can significantly improve outcomes, and open conversations can help save lives.

Our message is simple: don't ignore the symptoms, understand your risks, and take part in regular bowel cancer screening when appropriate.

As our Practice Manager, Katrina, said: "If by raising awareness we can encourage even one person to get checked, have the conversation with their doctor or complete their screening test, then it is worth it!"

Thank you to Bowel Cancer Australia for the recognition, and to everyone who joins us in keeping this conversation going.
