A lovely way to celebrate Occupational Therapy Week in Inverell!

Last week, our team joined other Occupational Therapists from the area for a chance to come together, share experiences and celebrate the work OTs do in supporting people in their everyday lives.

The gathering also included a professional development session on Pressure Care, presented by Cath Brabrook, giving everyone an opportunity to build their knowledge and learn alongside colleagues.

It’s always valuable to make time for these connections, particularly when they bring together professionals who share a passion for supporting their communities.

A big thank you to everyone involved in organising the day and making it such a worthwhile get-together!

Looking after your mental health doesn’t have to look the same as it does for someone else.

For some people, it might mean staying active or spending time with others. For others, it could be having some quiet time, getting back into a hobby, maintaining a routine or knowing when to ask for support.

What matters is recognising the things that help you feel well and making space for them where you can.

This Mental Health Month, it’s worth checking in with yourself: what does looking after your mental health look like for you?

Food choices can feel complicated, especially when you’re trying to manage a health condition or make changes that fit into everyday life.

That’s where individual nutrition advice can help. Rather than following generic rules or the latest advice online, a Dietitian can look at your health, eating habits, preferences and goals to help find an approach that works for you.

Whether you have questions about diabetes, your eating habits or simply planning balanced meals, Jed can help you make sense of the information and focus on what’s relevant to you.

For Tom, exercise isn’t about pushing through pain or training as hard as possible. It’s about making movement a regular part of looking after your health.

Finding an approach that suits your ability, health and goals can make exercise more achievable and sustainable over time, whether you’re managing a health condition, returning from injury or simply looking to stay active.

As an Exercise Physiologist, Tom can help develop an individual approach to movement and exercise based on what’s appropriate for you.

Staying connected to the things that matter to us can play an important role in our mental wellbeing.

That connection can look different for everyone. It might come through work, hobbies, regular routines, spending time with others or simply having something meaningful to look forward to.

During Mental Health Month, it’s a good reminder that looking after our wellbeing isn’t always about making big changes. Sometimes it’s about recognising the everyday activities and connections that help us feel engaged, supported and part of something.

Allied health brings together different professions, but the focus is shared: supporting people to participate in their health and everyday lives in ways that matter to them.

Here in Inverell, that means different disciplines working alongside individuals and families, sharing knowledge and bringing their own expertise to the support they provide.

On Allied Health Professions Day, we’re celebrating our Inverell team and the contribution allied health professionals make every day in the communities they’re part of.

Allied health: for everyone, everywhere.

Mental health matters every day, and World Mental Health Month is an opportunity to keep those conversations going.

Checking in doesn’t have to be complicated. A conversation, a message or simply taking the time to genuinely listen can help someone feel supported and connected.

It’s also a reminder to check in with yourself. Making space for the things that support your own wellbeing and recognising when you might need some extra support are just as important.

This October, take the time to check in with yourself and the people around you.
