For Lauren, meaningful support begins with connection, collaboration and communication.

She is passionate about making learning feel like play, helping children build confidence, develop everyday skills and discover their strengths through experiences that are engaging, meaningful and fun.

But Lauren also understands that supporting a child means supporting the whole family.

When overwhelm looks like behaviour. 💗

What we see on the outside does not always tell us what someone is experiencing on the inside.

For people with ADHD, sensory overload, mental fatigue, big emotions, executive functioning challenges and competing demands can all contribute to feeling overwhelmed.

Sometimes, what looks like someone being difficult, refusing to listen or not trying may be a sign that something more is happening beneath the surface.

Instead of asking “Why are they behaving like that?”, we can begin asking:

💗 What might they be experiencing?

🩵 Is their environment overwhelming?

💛 What support might make things easier?

Understanding does not mean making assumptions. It means approaching each person with curiosity, compassion and a willingness to listen.

Small adjustments, greater understanding and the right support can make a meaningful difference.

Because behaviour is communication, and understanding matters.

To those who care for others, we see you. 💛

The appointments. The advocacy. The planning, coordinating, supporting and showing up — often in ways others never see.

Across Australia, more than three million unpaid carers support someone they love or care about.

This National Carers Week, we’re recognising not only the important role carers play, but the importance of ensuring they feel seen, heard and supported themselves.

Because caring for a carer is about more than saying thank you. It’s about listening, understanding and offering meaningful support.

At BMe Supports, we’re proud to work alongside individuals, families and support networks, recognising the important contributions carers make every day.

Being heard is only the beginning.

Being listened to matters. But meaningful mental health support goes further.

It means being understood.
Having genuine choice.
Feeling included.
Having your experiences respected.
And being supported in ways that make sense for you.

Because mental health doesn’t look the same for everyone — and neither
should support.

Different minds.
Different experiences.
Same need to be heard.
Same right to belong.

This World Mental Health Day, we’re recognising the importance of
support that sees the whole person — their voice, their experiences,
their strengths and what matters to them.

The right support starts with the right match. 🩵🩷💛

Behaviour Support isn’t one-size-fits-all — and neither are the people we support.

At BMe, we take the time to understand the individual, their strengths, their needs, their goals and the people around them. From there, it’s about finding a practitioner whose experience and approach feels like the right fit.

Our Behaviour Support practice is individualised, neuroaffirming and person-led, grounded in the understanding that behaviour is communication.

BMe currently has Behaviour Support capacity across multiple locations, and we’re welcoming new referrals.

Whether you’re a participant, family member, Support Coordinator or another professional, reach out and we can explore the right practitioner match together.

Meet Leanne 💛

We’re very excited to officially welcome Leanne Mitchell to the BMe
Supports Behaviour Support team.

Leanne brings more than 20 years of experience across mental health
and disability, with a particular passion for supporting people whose
lives are shaped by trauma, psychosocial disability, mental illness
and complex support needs.

At the heart of Leanne’s practice is a simple belief:

“Trust comes before strategies.”

For Leanne, Behaviour Support begins with understanding the whole
person — their story, strengths, communication, relationships and what
matters to them.

She believes behaviour is communication, and that behaviour others may
find difficult often tells us something about an unmet need rather
than something about the person that needs to be “fixed”.

Her approach is person-centred, trauma-informed and neuroaffirming,
with a strong focus on choice, control, dignity and quality of life.

Leanne is particularly passionate about Positive Behaviour Support,
reducing restrictive practices, emotional regulation, family systems
and building the confidence of families and support teams around the
person.

And outside of work? You might find Leanne renovating her home, at the
local footy, walking her dogs or spending time at the beach. She also
lectures in Social Work — and once travelled the world working with
endurance horse stables!

We’re incredibly pleased to have Leanne bringing her experience,
warmth and relationship-first approach to BMe.

Welcome to the team, Leanne. 💛

There’s more than one way to think, focus, learn and thrive. 💛

October is ADHD Awareness Month, and at BMe Supports we’re using it as
an opportunity to keep learning, listening and looking beyond the
stereotypes.

ADHD isn’t one experience, one personality or one list of traits.

It can shape attention, motivation, executive functioning, emotional
regulation, sensory experiences, energy, time perception and the way
someone engages with the world around them.

It can also come with wonderfully individual ways of thinking,
creating, problem-solving, connecting, exploring interests and seeing
possibilities others might miss.

Most importantly, no two people with ADHD are the same.

Throughout October, we’ll be exploring ADHD through a neuroaffirming
lens — including executive functioning, regulation, behaviour and
communication, strengths, accommodations, and what it can look like to
support rather than simply correct.

Because understanding starts with seeing the whole person.

Different minds. Different strengths. Different needs.

Be Bold. Be Brave. Be Me.

October is Mental Health Month. 💛

This year’s theme, Together We Thrive, speaks to something we believe
deeply at BMe Supports:

Mental health doesn’t exist in isolation.

It is shaped by whether we feel safe. Whether we are understood.
Whether we belong. Whether support is accessible. Whether our
differences are respected. And whether our voice carries weight in the
decisions that affect our lives.

Connection can look different for everyone.

It might be conversation. A shared interest. Familiar routines.
Family. Friendship. Culture. Community. A trusted professional. A pet.
Or simply being around people who allow you to be completely yourself.

For neurodivergent people and people with disability, genuine
belonging means creating spaces where difference doesn’t need to be
hidden, explained or changed in order to be accepted.

For people experiencing mental health challenges, it means being heard
without judgement and having a meaningful voice in their own support.

For families and carers, it means recognising that they need
connection and support too.

And for all of us, it means remembering that mental wellbeing cannot
sit solely on the shoulders of the individual.

We build healthier communities when we build communities where people
can belong.

Throughout October, we’ll continue conversations about mental health,
connection, inclusion, lived experience, wellbeing and the many
different ways people communicate what they need.

Because thriving should never require someone to become less of themselves.

Together, we thrive. 💛

Be Bold. Be Brave. Be Me.
