Happy Weekend!

Here are our Nurse and Doctor hours for the week ahead.

On Friday, we sadly farewelled Nurse Bethany from KMC. We’ve absolutely loved having her as part of our team and wish her all the very best as she continues to focus on her nursing roles within SA Health. Thank you for everything, Bethany!

A little reminder that the Keith & District Healthcare Auxiliary Garden Day is on tomorrow!

It’s always a beautiful event and a wonderful opportunity to support our local healthcare services.

Fasting for a blood test? Here’s what you need to know!

If you’ve been asked to fast before your blood test, a little preparation can help ensure accurate results.

Drink plenty of water! Staying well hydrated can make blood collection easier.

•Fast for 8–12 hours, or as directed by your doctor.
•Plain water is encouraged and does not break your fast.
•Avoid food, coffee, tea, juice and other drinks during your fasting period.
•Avoid chewing gum and smoking while fasting.
•Continue your usual medications unless advised otherwise by your doctor.

Remember, not all blood tests require fasting!

If you’re unsure if you need to fast, check with your doctor or our nursing team before your appointment

You may be eligible for a Medicare-funded Heart Health Check if you are:

• 45–79 years
• 35–79 years and living with diabetes
• 30–79 years and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

A Heart Health Check assesses your cardiovascular risk and helps identify ways to protect your heart.

Current lipid (cholesterol) results are required to complete the assessment. If needed, we can arrange blood tests beforehand.

A 12-lead ECG may also be performed where clinically appropriate.

Contact Keith Medical Centre to check your eligibility and book.
