Ever heard yourself and thought, “Gee I’m really picking at everyone today…”?

Sometimes the voice we use with the people we love sounds a lot like the one running inside our own head.

I know mine can be tough, critical even.

So I’m practising noticing the effort and actually saying it out loud. What’s been done. What I appreciate. What I’d love to see more of!

It’s a small shift we can practise with our families and ourselves.

Do you catch the good, or does the unfinished stuff grab your attention first?

22/10/2026

The thoughtful message you skimmed over deserves just as much (probably more!) attention as the comment you’ve dissected twelve times, over analysed & really carried for far too long!

Go back. Read it again. Let yourself feel appreciated.

Giving more energy to the good takes practice, especially when replaying the hurt feels familiar. But you can make room for both.

Save this for when your mind gets stuck on the unkind stuff xx

Do you consider yourself self-aware and still find yourself repeating the same patterns?

People pleasing. Overcommitting. Struggling with boundaries. Feeling guilty for putting yourself first.

Knowing what needs to change doesn’t always mean understanding WHY you keep doing it.

Our experiences, learned behaviours and core beliefs can influence how we think, feel and respond.

& that’s where counselling can help.

Not by telling you what to do, but by helping you understand yourself and make meaningful changes.

As a rural Queensland counsellor, I support women through overwhelm, anxiety and life’s many moving parts!

If this resonates, I’d love you to stick around. And if you’re ready to explore counselling, link in bio.

A little reminder to myself today.

Coming to you from the beautiful The Firebreak - Luxury Off-Grid Farm Stay , where this week we hosted such a special evening alongside reddirt.social , celebrating the incredible women in our community!

And I’ve been reflecting on something…

Not everything needs to be followed by the next goal, the next project or the next thing on the to-do list.

Sometimes we need to stop, look around, appreciate the people who have shown up alongside you and feel genuinely proud of what you’ve created together.

Community doesn’t just happen. It’s built through people choosing to show up, contribute, connect and care.

And I’m so grateful for mine.

Being the person who just gets it done, can make it pretty easy to overlook how much it’s actually taking out of you.

Especially when you’ve become so good at juggling everyone’s needs that you’ve stopped noticing your own.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being capable, independent and dependable, but there is a difference between managing your life and enjoying it.

You can be grateful for everything you have AND recognise that something needs to change.

You don’t need to wait for everything to fall apart before giving yourself permission to do things differently.

If this feels familiar, perhaps it’s time to make a little room for yourself too.

I think one of the biggest misconceptions about counselling is that you need to have exhausted every other option before giving it a go.

Especially if you’re someone who’s used to figuring things out for yourself. But being capable, independent and self-aware doesn’t mean you have to navigate everything on your own.

Asking for support doesn’t take away from any of those things.

I don’t believe counselling is about fixing people. It’s about understanding people. Their experiences, their circumstances and what matters to them.

Having someone alongside you, asking different questions and offering a fresh perspective, is where meaningful change begins.

You can love being a mum, love your family, be passionate about your work AND still want things that are just for you.

Somewhere between looking after everyone else, meeting commitments and getting through the never-ending to-do list, it’s easy to lose sight of what makes YOU feel like you.

And making room for yourself doesn’t have to mean making huge changes.

Start small. Make the plans. Wear the dress. Catch up with your friends. Do something simply because you enjoy it.

You’re allowed to be a priority in your own life, too.

When we measure how well we’re coping by how much we’re getting done, it’s easy to overlook what it’s costing us.

You can be capable, dependable and getting everything done… and still be overwhelmed.

Sometimes the question isn’t whether you’re coping, but whether the way you’re coping is actually working for you.

If this feels familiar, I’d love to help you get curious about what might need to change.

“It could have been worse.”

I hear versions of this a lot.

Usually right after someone has told me about something that was actually really hard.

And then almost straight away…

“Other people have been through worse”
“I’m usually pretty resilient”
“I should be able to handle this”

We can be very quick to minimise what we’ve been through because someone else has had it harder.

But their hard doesn’t make yours less hard.

And being resilient doesn’t mean being unaffected.

You don’t have to prove something was bad enough before you’re allowed to admit it was hard.

If this feels familiar, maybe you don’t need to keep talking yourself out of how you feel. When you’re ready, I’ll meet you right where you’re at. Link in bio.
