From October 2026, there will be gradual changes to how funding is allocated in certain support categories.
This particularly affects:
• social, community and civic participation supports
• supports that build skills for everyday life
These adjustments will not happen all at once.
Instead, they will be introduced progressively as participants go through their normal plan reassessment or renewal process.
It’s also important to note:
• funding may go up or down depending on individual needs
• changes are not automatically negative, they are based on reassessed requirements
• high-support participants may have access to new pathways, including plan variations for 24-hour care needs

New NDIS requirements will introduce mandatory record keeping for participants and nominees.
Participants will need to keep records for at least 3 years, while nominees will need to retain records for 5 years.
These records may include:
• invoices and receipts
• service agreements
• proof of supports delivered
• communication with providers

This change is part of broader efforts to improve transparency and protect participants from misuse of funds.
Keeping organised records ensures that:
• your funding is being used correctly
• you are protected in case of audits or disputes
• you can clearly track how your supports are being delivered
