We're excited to be attending the upcoming SENVIC Victorian Social Enterprise Showcase on 26 October at Melbourne Town Hall. We'll be there with Cleanable, our social enterprise!

Events like these provide a brilliant opportunity to learn about the wide range of social enterprise initiatives across Victoria, and the positive social and environment impacts they’re making. Plus, they’re an incredibly helpful platform to build meaningful partnerships and networks, connect with other purpose-led businesses, and share and learn ideas from fellow changemakers.

So, if you are heading along too, please let us know! We would love to catch up for a chat!

We are continuing to raise awareness that October is World Mental Health Month.

This month is a gentle reminder that mental health is a fundamental part of our overall wellbeing, and that many challenges we face each day are invisible to those around us.

When mental health challenges or invisible disabilities arise, everyday tasks like keeping a routine or navigating work and study can feel overwhelming. Needing support to navigate these moments is never a personal failure.

We’ve put together a new post exploring how tailored, gentle support can help you regain confidence and stability at your own pace, whether that’s through staying connected with your community, learning new skills, or exploring employment options. Our NDIS services, in particular, give a supportive boost for eligible participants.

We were so proud to attend the 2026 Learn Local Awards last week, celebrating a remarkable 20 years of adult community education in Victoria.

Opendoor was a proud Major Sponsor of the Learn Local Pre–accredited Trainer Award. Pre–accredited learning builds the essential skills, confidence, and connections people need for study, work, and life, and trainers are truly at the heart of that transformation.

A huge congratulations to Sara Ganderton-Spencer from Cheltenham Community Centre who took home the award! Sara has helped learners from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to find their voices. Sara’s work creates genuine community connection and changes lives. She helps to teach everyday Australian idioms while creating warm and welcoming spaces where students feel comfortable to practice their English over shared recipes and food.

A special thank you to Opendoor's Group Manager Strategy & Growth, Daniel Gavin, who presented Sara with her award.

From 11 to 17 October, we're marking National Carers Week and recognising the more than 3 million Australians who provide unpaid care to a family member or friend.

This year's theme, Care for a carer: Making carers visible, asks all of us to notice the carers in our families, workplaces and communities. A check-in, an offer to run an errand, or a simple thank you goes a long way.

Carers often put the needs of the person they support ahead of their own. As a registered NDIS provider, Opendoor works alongside people with disability and their families to put the right supports in place, so carers have room to look after themselves too. If you'd like a friendly chat about what that looks like for your family, please reach out.

We are acknowledging, raising awareness, and celebrating World Mental Health Awareness Month this October, and today (10 October) we’re focusing in on World Mental Health Day! 🧠🥰

Today is a vital time to reflect on the importance of mental wellbeing and to look out for one another. Mental health affects every single one of us, and navigating life when mental health challenges arise can feel overwhelming.

We know that support looks different for everyone, and having the right people in your corner can make all the difference when it comes to feeling connected, heard, and supported.

As a registered NDIS provider, we're here to walk alongside you and help you live your best life through support tailored to your unique journey – because no matter where you are on your path, you don't have to navigate it alone. Opendoor is here to support you all year round.

What a day at the 2026 Learn Local Awards!

We were proud to sponsor the Pre-accredited Trainer Award, presented by our own Daniel Gavin, Strategy and Growth Manager.

A special shout-out to our Opendoor finalists for your hard work, dedication, and progress. We'd also like to give praise to the Opendoor teams for supporting our finalists. We're proud of you and the difference you make every day.

Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. The stories shared in the room were a warm reminder of how much good is happening across Victoria's adult education sector, and of the people behind it making a difference in their communities.
