National Carers Week 2026 Wrap Up!

Throughout this week, we've shared little reminders about the importance of looking after yourself while caring for someone living with dementia. From taking a few moments for yourself to reaching out for support, we hope these reminders have encouraged you to make your own wellbeing a priority too.

It was wonderful to see some of our carers come together at the Carers Victoria afternoon tea in the city, alongside the Minister for Carers and Volunteers - an opportunity to connect, share experiences and celebrate the incredible contribution carers make every day.

To all the dementia carers in our Caladenia community, thank you for the compassion, patience and dedication you bring to your caring role.

Happy National Carers Week 2026!

This National Carers Week, Caladenia would like to recognise and celebrate the people behind the caring role.

In Australia it’s estimated that at least 101,900 people are providing unpaid care to people living with dementia in the community (The Australia Institute of Health & Welfare 2024). These people could be partners, children, family members, friends, companions, all of whom are supporting someone living with dementia with love and care. We see you.

The theme of this year’s National Carer’s Week is to ‘Care for a Carer’- so Caladenia will be doing just that! This week we’ll be sharing a series of posts with tips on how Carers can support their own wellbeing. We’re also hosting some specials events including a Younger Onset Dementia Carers Lunch, a Stress Resilience Workshop and Men Carer’s Lunch.

If you’d like more information on any of the events, our support groups or general information/support, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or visit https://www.caladenia.com.au/caring-for-carers

- Willingness to assist with personal care
- Current driver’s licence and confidence driving a 12-seater bus
