Mother Nurture Clinical aromatherapy and massage to support women through pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond.

Provider of natural aromatherapy products, aromatherapy education and baby massage training to help mothers care for themselves and their families. My qualifications, experience and passion in nursing, midwifery, clinical aromatherapy and massage provided the foundations for Mother Nurture. Whilst studying aromatherapy, it became evident through discussions with women that many were reluctant to use aromatherapy during their pregnancy. Women are quite vulnerable during this time and with so much confusing and conflicting advice it was often simpler to do without. This spurred me on to develop a service where women could be assured they were receiving expert advice and care. Using mother nature to nurture mothers was essentially the vision. Mother Nurture has been supporting women through the roller coaster of life since 2010. I also love to provide parents with simple tools, such as natural aromatherapy products, aromatherapy education and baby massage techniques, to help care for themselves and their families.

Some great feedback from a lovely mum in my recent baby massage course 😊

Jade is correct in wanting to ensure massaging her baby is safe and beneficial.
Baby massage is actually very different to adult massage.
So, it’s important to know when, what and how to massage!

I absolutely love teaching baby massage to new (or expectant) parents! Once the correct techniques and sequences are learnt, it’s a tool parents can use throughout their child’s life - not just for babies but right up to teenage years. A skill for life!

My next baby massage course MAMA Midwifery Practice starts next Tuesday 18th August & continues over the following two weeks. First session can be attended as an introduction class, numbers permitting.

I'm cooking up a big pot of aromatic soup for lunch; my favourite way to warm the body from the inside out. It's difficult to stay healthy and upbeat in winter at times. Here are a few of my tips to help enhance well-being during the colder months:

❄️ Try to get out of the heated house or office and breathe in some fresh air every day.

❄️ Whilst probably still cold, if the sun is out, open up doors and windows of the house for a few hours.

❄️ Our water intake usually drops off during winter. I often switch to drinking warm water instead, adding a little lemon juice to spice it up. Or herbal teas are also a great option.

❄️ Move your body. I find it so difficult to be motivated to exercise when it’s cold, but I always feel so much better (& warmer!) when I do. Having a dog guarantees a walk most days.

These daily habits not only help support our immune system but improve our mood as well (something I definitely need help with during winter!)

What’s your tip for staying healthy and happy in winter? 😊

🤧 Sniffles, snotty noses and sleepless nights… winter has certainly arrived.

Over the past few weeks I've been supporting so many mums navigating the endless cycle of winter bugs. When one family member gets sick, it often feels like everyone does!

As a mum myself, aromatherapy became one of my greatest supports while raising my two girls. Having gentle, natural remedies on hand helped ease symptoms, brought comfort, and hopefully meant a little more sleep for everyone (which is priceless!).

Used safely and appropriately, essential oils can help:
💚 Ease congestion and stuffy noses
💚 Support coughs and chest discomfort
💚 Comfort aching little bodies
💚 Help reduce the risk of secondary infections
💚 Support wellbeing throughout the household

That's why I've created a range of gentle blends specifically formulated for babies (6+ months) and children.

✨ For one week only, enjoy 15% OFF all children's cold & flu remedies, including:
• Gentle Breathe Blend & Aroma Roll-On
• Calm Kids Blend & Aroma Roll-On
• Children's Coughs & Colds Massage Oil
• Coughs & Colds Bath Blend

📅 Offer ends midnight Sunday 19 July.
No code required.

If you're unsure which remedy is best for your child, I'm always happy to help. Simply send me a message. 🙂

Wednesday evening I joined a beautiful group of Doulas Birth for Humankind

We discussed how they could use aromatherapy for some much needed self care.
As volunteers providing support to birthing families experiencing hardship , they deserved a little nurturing themselves. 💚

It’s been a hectic month as I consolidate my practice at MAMA in Kensington. Apologies if you’ve had trouble finding availability.

I am using a new online booking platform called My Appointments which has been fantastic. I’ve had great feedback from clients on the ease of booking appointments and communication.

One the BEST features of My Appointments is the ability for clients to add themselves to the waitlist. If you can’t find a suitable appointment time this is the easiest way to let me know your preferences. Appointments often need to be cancelled or rescheduled, for various reasons (seeing so many pregnant women there’s always the chance a baby will be born at the last minute!) So it is worth adding yourself to the list 😊

Otherwise, I’d recommend booking a few weeks in advance, especially if you’d prefer an after hours spot.

One of the first things I teach parents in my baby massage course is the permission sequence. This is where parents open their palms over baby’s face and ask “do you want a massage now?”

It sounds a bit strange, doesn’t it? But this is an important part of baby massage for two reasons.

It allows space for the parent to determine if it is an appropriate time for massage.

It also teaches children from a young age that consent to touch should be sought. Parents can continue to use this phrase all throughout their child’s life, and encourage their child to respond accordingly.

Over time babies learn that the permission sequence signifies it’s time for massage – firstly by the non-verbal hand signals and eventually recognising the word massage.

Want to know more? Join me at my next baby massage course at MAMA Midwifery Practice on Tuesdays 5th, 12th & 19th May.
