ADHD can affect people in different ways, and it can shape everyday life for the whole family. Things like getting started on tasks, staying organised, managing overwhelming feelings or keeping up with routines can take extra effort. Every person’s experience is different, and understanding starts with listening rather than making assumptions.
Small, practical strategies may help make day-to-day tasks feel more manageable:
• Try writing things down
• Breaking a task into smaller steps
• Using colours to organise information
• Set reminders for yourself
• Prioritising sleep
• Body doubling - do a task alongside a friend to help you stay focused.
Different things work for different people, so it’s okay to try a few approaches and see what fits.
At Toma Health, we want people affected by ADHD, and the families who support them, to feel heard and respected. Our health team can talk through day-to-day concerns, help families understand available support and work together on practical next steps. Where it’s helpful, we can also support people to connect with the right health professionals and community services.
Families do a lot of listening, planning and adapting every day. They deserve support, too. 🤎
